Disney Guests Are Throwing Away Their Money—Literally!
A trip to Disneyland Resort is already an expensive experience, but some guests are taking it a step further—by literally tossing their money away.
A viral Reddit post has revealed that in the queue for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, guests have been dropping coins and even dollar bills into Pluto’s dog bowl, a prop designed as part of the attraction’s immersive queue.
“I usually take the LL route on MMRR, so I always walk right past this without noticing,” the original poster wrote. “But yesterday, I stood in line and saw this and had a laugh. It reminded me of the bills that are thrown in Snow White’s chamber in the queue.”
The Irony of Tossing Money at Disneyland
The post quickly gained attention, with many commenters pointing out the irony—after spending hundreds (or even thousands) of dollars on a Disneyland trip, why would guests willingly toss away more? One comment shared:
“I can imagine feeling like an absolute moron as soon as my dollar left my hand. Standing there looking at my money wishing i could pick it up and take it back.
This isn’t the first time guests have left money in unexpected places at Disneyland. Over the years, visitors have tossed cash into Snow White’s dungeon, the wishing well near Sleeping Beauty Castle, and even the waters of Pirates of the Caribbean. Whether it’s for luck, tradition, or just a spur-of-the-moment decision, it’s a trend that continues to grow.
Where Does the Money Go?
Disneyland hasn’t officially addressed what happens to the money left in attraction queues, but it’s likely collected by Cast Members. In some cases, coins tossed into Disney fountains and water features are donated to charity, so it’s possible that at least some of this “donated” cash goes to a good cause.
Whatever the reason behind this bizarre trend, one thing is certain—Pluto is cashing in on guests’ generosity!
