Disney Enacts Controversial Rule Change for Park Pin Trading

Pin traders at EPCOT are voicing their displeasure after being moved from their longstanding spot underneath Spaceship Earth to a new outdoor bench area near the Creations Shop. The shift has raised concerns among many, as the new location exposes them to the harsh Florida heat.

The relocated spot has become a point of frustration for traders, as it offers little shade compared to the original area under Spaceship Earth, which was an ideal spot for trading due to its coverage and central location.

A Disappointing Change

Pin trading has long been a cherished tradition at Disney parks, with EPCOT’s central spot under Spaceship Earth serving as a hub for collectors and enthusiasts. But now, fans must adapt to the uncomfortable outdoor setup near the Creations Shop, which has prompted many to take their complaints online. The new location, particularly in the summer heat, is seen by many as a significant downgrade in terms of both comfort and visibility for traders.

Despite the frustration, the reason for the relocation remains unclear. Disney has yet to release an official statement on why the move was made, but some speculate it may be to try to help guest traffic underneath Spaceship Earth.

Will Disney Change Its Mind?

This change has made some pin traders feel as if Disney has lost respect for the practice of pin trading, which has become increasingly popular over the past year. To usher these loyal fans out of their traditional location makes some feel neglected, and the new spot’s direct sunlight has also caused upset amongst traders.

As the summer heat intensifies, pin traders are hoping Disney will reconsider the move and find a more comfortable, shaded space to restore the community atmosphere they’ve enjoyed for years. Until then, visitors hoping to participate in the popular activity will have to make their way to the new, less ideal location. With continued outcry on social media, it remains to be seen whether Disney will listen to the concerns of its dedicated pin trading community.
