A former Disney cast member went viral for a controversial outfit choice during her recent vacation at Walt Disney World Resort. Some Disney Parks fans argued that the outfit violated the Disney dress code, while others felt it was appropriate for the Central Florida heat.
In 2022, violating the Disney dress code became a viral TikTok trend. After multiple guests received free shirts to replace their dress code-violating outfits, social media users intentionally dressed inappropriately to try to get their own.
Eventually, Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios stopped offering complimentary clothing to guests violating the dress code.
Jessie (@jessie.may on TikTok) recently amassed social media attention when a commenter called her outfit “inappropriate for Disney.” The former Disney cast member shared videos of herself at Magic Kingdom Park and EPCOT in a red t-shirt and checkered shorts.
“This outfit??? Inappropriate for disney??🤭💋🐭…it’s actually one of my faves!!🥰🥰 lets stop judging girlies outfits!!”

Some Disney Parks fans agreed that the outfit violated Walt Disney World Resort’s dress code.
“I was actually shocked how many people dress this way at Disney,” said @kat.poles. “I thought they were strict on dress code but they don’t seem to have one at all…Just because there’s worse doesn’t mean this isn’t inappropriate.”
“It really is [inappropriate],” @mjl1856 replied.
However, most commenters sided with Jessie.
“Literally nothing wrong with this outfit it’s cute,” said @emilyherreramusic. “I’m a cast member and I’ve seen way more revealing [than] this.”
“Someone’s obviously not been to Florida in the summer,” @emily.does_disney wrote. “You slay girl!”
Jessie later posted this response to those who disagreed:
@jessie.may Replying to @kat.poles Was i dress coded at Disney???!🥲🐭 This is NO HATE i’m just stating what I know about Disney/dress code and defending my silly little outfit video!! And I don’t think my outfit was inappropriate🩷 #waltdisneyworld #disney #disneyland #disneyadult #disneycollegeprogram #disneyoutfits #disneyoutfitinspo #disneydresscode
“Honestly, I don’t think my outfit was very unacceptable,” the former Disney cast member said.
Jessie referenced Walt Disney World Resort’s dress code, which bans things like excessively ripped clothing or clothing with inappropriate language or imagery. She assumed commenters believed she violated the rule against showing “excessive skin.” It prohibits “clothing which, by nature, exposes excessive portions of the skin that may be viewed as inappropriate for a family environment.”
“If that’s what excessive amounts of skin means, I’m really sorry,” she said. “I personally wouldn’t class that as excessive amounts of skin. I know my stomach’s out, but we’re in Florida.”
“I worked there,” Jessie continued. “I saw hundreds, if not thousands, of guests a day, and I would say my outfit fits what 90% of people wear to the parks, which is little shorts and a top…You want to be in as little clothing as you can be while still being acceptable because it’s so hot.”
