Disney Breaks Silence on Mysterious Collapse at Iconic Hollywood Studios Location

For nearly three years, a small but very noticeable corner of Disney’s Hollywood Studios has felt… unfinished. It wasn’t a major ride or a headline attraction, but for guests entering the park and making their way down Hollywood Boulevard, something always looked just a bit off.

The area in question? Keystone Clothiers—a sleek, art deco-style gift shop that has long been a go-to spot for Star Wars and Marvel merch. Back in September 2022, part of the store’s main facade suddenly gave way, causing visible damage just steps from the park’s entrance. And while Disney quickly covered the area up, it lingered like an open question: when would it be fixed?

Well, it finally happened. Quietly and without much fanfare, Disney has fully restored the exterior of Keystone Clothiers to its original glory. The marble trim, golden accents, and art deco lighting fixtures are all back, giving the entrance the kind of polished look you’d expect from a park that prides itself on transporting guests into another era.

What This Means for Guests at Hollywood Studios

Guests walking down Hollywood Boulevard will now find a clearer, more open path into the park. The construction walls that used to clog up the entrance and hinder foot traffic are finally gone, which not only makes navigating the area easier but also restores a clean, immersive look for photos and first impressions.

Even better, the main entrance to Keystone Clothiers is back in action. For a while, visitors had to find side doors just to enter the shop, which wasn’t the most guest-friendly solution. Now, the front doors are open again, welcoming guests the way they were meant to.

Disney didn’t cut corners with the repair either. The original design details were carefully brought back—including the black marble base, the dark metallic lamps, and the detailed metal flourishes above the entrance. Some minor touch-ups might still be needed (there are a few scuffs on the bronze doors), but overall, the storefront is looking sharp.

It’s a small win, but in a park that thrives on detail and nostalgia, these kinds of visual updates go a long way in preserving the experience.

What’s Happening at Disney’s Hollywood Studios?

Of course, Keystone Clothiers isn’t the only change happening at Hollywood Studios. The park is gearing up for a busy stretch, with several entertainment offerings launching in just a matter of days.

On May 27, The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure officially debuts, replacing the long-retired Voyage of the Little Mermaid. This brand-new show brings a refreshed take on Ariel’s underwater world and is expected to draw serious crowds.

Also opening that same day is Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After, a live show featuring some of Disney’s most iconic villains. It’s a darker twist on the traditional fairytale format and will take over the space previously occupied by Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy on Sunset Boulevard.

The arrival of these two new shows is expected to help balance out the flow of guests across the park—something Hollywood Studios could definitely use given its limited number of family-friendly attractions compared to other parks like Magic Kingdom or EPCOT.

At the same time, the park is saying goodbye to a few longtime staples. Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano has closed its doors for good, and MuppetVision 3-D is entering its final days. Disney has announced that only Cast Members will get the chance to see the Muppets one last time before the attraction closes permanently.

In its place, a brand-new Monsters, Inc.-themed land is on the way. It’s part of a broader transformation that will reshape that whole section of the park and breathe some much-needed life into a space that hasn’t seen much change in decades.

From a restored storefront to new entertainment options and the beginnings of an entirely new land, Disney’s Hollywood Studios is clearly in transition. Whether it’s a small cosmetic fix or a massive show debut, the park is turning the page—and for fans, it’s an exciting time to visit.
