Everybody knows that Disney fans are ruthless. Online Reddit communities tirelessly pick apart minute details to try and find all of the secrets, spoilers, and ‘easter eggs’ of every Disney project. The Marvel fandom is one of the most dedicated and passionate fan bases of them all. Usually, Disney loves the fanbase’s dedication to their franchises, but not in this case. After a fan shared a leaked script for an upcoming Ant Man film, Disney has had enough and is taking legal action.

Disney Furious Over Reddit Leak
Earlier this week, something truly shocking occurred in a Marvel subreddit. The subreddit in question is the Marvel Studios Spoilers subreddit, which is a community of passionate Marvel fans who have fun investigating all of the leaks from upcoming MCU projects. Members of this subreddit are incredibly intelligent and are able to make smart predictions from little bits of information. However, earlier this year a massive plot leak shook the community.

About a month before the release of the movie Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, a user under the name MSSmods leaked the film’s entire dialogue. MSSmods shared a Reddit post including a 63-page Google Doc with the leaked material in it, and fans in the subreddit went wild. The Walt Disney Company soon caught wind of this massive leak, and they were not happy. For a movie dialogue to leak like this to happen a month before the release of a film could be detrimental to its success.

Disney and Marvel have already filed two Digital Millennium Copyright Act subpoena applications in hope that Google or Reddit with identify the identity of MSSmods and any others involved. Reddit is fighting the request to share MSSmod’s personal information. A spokesperson from Reddit explained, “Reddit is committed to protecting our users’ privacy. We have rigorous processes in place to assess legal requests and object when appropriate.”
This story has shocked the fanbase and may change the way the Marvel leaks subreddit runs. Only time will tell if Disney and Marvel are able to identify who MSSmods really is.
