Disney Bans Guests From Using Hotel Amenities; Rents Area to Outside Visitors Instead

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is a vibrant and captivating destination located in the heart of Walt Disney World in Lake Buena Vista. This stunning resort captures the essence of the American Southwest and the northern regions of Mexico, offering guests a rich tapestry of culture and style. At this resort, guests can enjoy the themed pools, a serene lake, and the grand vistas of the resort’s architecture.

For many guests, it is the Coronado Springs Resort amenities that make the steep price point worth it for guests. However, in an unexpected turn of events, guests at Walt Disney World’s Coronado Springs Resort were left dismayed yesterday after being informed that they would be unable to use the hotel’s amenities after 5 p.m. due to a private event. The unusual closure, reportedly caused by a private party that bought out the entire resort, has led to significant frustration among those affected.

Fans Dismayed After Shocking Disney Verdict

According to reports, guests who arrived at the front desk on August 12 were informed that all hotel facilities—including pools, dining options, and recreational activities—would be unavailable after 5 p.m. The resort staff confirmed that the entire property had been booked by a private group, effectively closing it to other guests for the evening.

The resort’s management reportedly confirmed the private event to one guest but failed to provide additional details about the nature of the booking or why guests were not notified of the early closure in advance. While it is common for hotels to host private events, such as conferences or large gatherings, the extent of the closure and lack of prior notification has raised concerns. One affected guest shared:

“WE staying at Coronado. We were advised that we couldn’t use any hotel amenities after 5pm because someone bought out the resort. Is there any explanation for this and why we weren’t notified?
UPDATE: IT was confirmed that the hotel was closed to other “guests”. The front desk confirmed as well. It was highly disappointing.”

Guests Search for Answers Amidst Confusion

As the news of the closure circulates, many are calling for Walt Disney World Resort to improve its policies regarding private bookings and guest communication. At the very least, affected guests should be offered a pool pass to another Walt Disney World Resort hotel. In the meantime, affected guests are encouraged to reach out to the resort’s customer service for assistance and to ensure their concerns are addressed.

  1. Disney should be ashamed of themselves. Guests pay for their stay under the promise that they can use the amenities at the resort.

It’s one thing to rent out a conference room or something that doesn’t interfere with other guests but to prevent people from eating at the resort or using the pool after the customers paid quite a bit of money to stay there is repulsive. Every person staying there should be getting at least a partial refund for that night.

  2. Hotel guests should be reimbursed for a nights stay since Disney would not let them use the hotel amenities.

  3. I’ve run into this exact same issue at Coronado Springs on a smaller scale! I have spinal stenosis, which makes walking difficult for me. I had planned to eat a 3 Bridges one night & walked the circuitous & long distance from my room to the restaurant in the middle of the lake only to find out that the ENTIRE venue had been booked by some company that was having their convention there! There was ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING that this would be the case & I was more than a little bit perturbed at this turn of events! As a result, I ended up at Rix & was fortunate that they hadn’t booked that as well!!!
