Disney Actually Warning Guests Not To Inject Their MagicBand+ Chip

MagicBand Plus External use

Back in October, Disney introduced its new MagicBand+ at Walt Disney World Resort. Just about two months later, MagicBand+ debuted at Disneyland Resort. The new MagicBand+ lets Guests not only add their ticket, but also become bounty hunters when they visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. The new bands will also light up during the various nighttime spectaculars. There’s even a fun little addition for Guests who ride the iconic attraction, The Haunted Mansion.

Disney MagicBands have been around for years and come in many amazing designs. However, one Guest recently saw a new warning that Disney issued, and this one is a little weird. Redditor u/inamagicalmood posted a photo from a shop in Disneyland where MagicBands were being sold. There was a sign over the MagicBand+ area telling Guests that the Bands were not for internal use.

That’s right — Disney actually has to tell Guests not to put the RFID chip from the band INSIDE their body.

MagicBand+: Not for internal or subdermal use. I wonder what the story is behind why that statement is necessary.

Here’s more information on Disneyland’s new MagicBand+:

MagicBand+ lets you easily enter the parks (with valid admission and reservation) and check in at Lightning Lane entrances (separate valid Lightning Lane entry required) so you can keep both hands free for churros!

Be a part of the show! MagicBand+ glows with color and pulses with haptic vibrations during World of Color, Fantasmic! and other select nighttime spectaculars. Your MagicBand+ also adds a surprising and magical touch to select experiences at Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure Park.

Now, there is a big difference between the MagicBand+ at Disney World and the one at Disneyland. While your Disney World MagicBand+ can be used to make purchases — because you can link your credit card. Disneyland Resort does not yet have credit card linking available on MagicBand+. One really great thing, however, is that MagicBand+ can be used at both Disneyland and Disney World, so there is no need to purchase more than one band, unless you want to, of course!
