The day is finally here, my MagicBand friends! Disney’s new MagicBand+ is officially on sale across the Walt Disney World Resort, and those booking their Disney World vacations can pre-order them. MagicBand+ is the newest version of the popular MagicBand, with the big difference being that MagicBand+ is rechargeable. MagicBand+ not only holds all of your tickets and reservation information, like the old MagicBands, and it also gets you into your hotel room, but there are also a ton of fun extras that are only available on the new MagicBand+.

When it comes to the new MagicBand+, there are not quite as many designs to choose from as compared to the older MagicBands. However, it is more than likely that more designs will come out in the coming months and years. Below are the more than 20 designs that Guests have the ability to purchase both in the Parks and on the Walt Disney World website if they are pro-ordering for their vacation.

As we previously said, in addition to the traditional things Disney MagicBands can do, the MagicBand+ has a ton of additional fun features. If you are watching Disney Enchantment at the Magic Kingdom or Harmonious at EPCOT, your MagicBand+ will light up with the music and fireworks. You can head over to Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and become a Bounty Hunter in the Black Spire Outpost. You can even use your MagicBand+ to interact with the Fab 50 statues at Magic Kingdom Park, Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, and Animal Kingdom.

It is important to note that, if you want to access all the fun extras, then you will need to make sure that your Disney MagicBand+ is charged. Each MagicBand+ comes with a USB charger, and you can even wear the band while charging it! Your My Disney Experience app will show you the battery life you have on your MagicBand+. If your battery is in the red, you need to charge it because it is dead or nearly dead. If the battery color is yellow, the battery is getting low, and you may want to consider charging it. If your battery is green, you are good to go!

Guests should remember that even if their MagicBand+ battery is dead, they will still be able to use the band to get into the theme parks and enter their hotel rooms, as well as access Disney Genie and Lightning Lane reservations. The battery life on the MagicBand+ really only affects the extras — bounty hunting, Fab 50 interactions, etc. — and the band will function as a traditional MagicBand if the battery is dead.

Disney has shared that, while not available yet, MagicBands will be coming to the Disneyland Resort at a later date. Disney Dining will let readers know when that date is announced.

Are you planning on purchasing a new MagicBand+? Or will you stick with the old MagicBands?
