When visiting Walt Disney World Resort, it seems like there is always something new to experience. From new food dishes to new experiences, new merchandise, and more. Disney Imagineers love to give us new and exciting things. And soon, Guests will be able to enjoy a whole new kind of MagicBand called MagicBand+.
MagicBands have been at Walt Disney World since 2013, and the original ones allow Guests to keep their Park tickets on the Band, use the Band to charge things to their room, upload PhotoPass pictures, and unlock the door to their hotel room. Disney’s new MagicBand+ will take the Guest’s Disney World vacation to the next level. With MagicBand+, Guests will be able to have interactive experiences in all four theme parks. Disney Parks Blog shared more information on these new MagicBand+ experiences.
Fab 50 Statues
Disney World is currently celebrating its 50th Anniversary celebration and, as part of that celebration, they have put golden statues of some of the most popular Disney characters at Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios. These are called the Fab 50 and MagicBand+ will be able to interact with those statues:
Soon, you’ll be able to use MagicBand+ to bring the sculptures to life and interact with them on the “Disney Fab 50 Quest.” You can also dive deeper into the experience using the Play Disney Parks mobile app to keep track of which sculptures you’ve found. The more you find, the more features you can unlock with digital achievements and an augmented reality feature that will give you a glimpse into your favorite characters’ worlds.
Disney Enchantment and Harmonious
Remember when Disney sold special Mickey Ears that would light up at night as you watched the fireworks shows? Well, MagicBand+ will have the ability to do the same thing!
You can also experience nighttime spectaculars in a new way as you’ll see your MagicBand+ light up and complement the magic in the skies! It’s a dazzling way to join in the celebration and create unforgettable memories at the theme parks.
Become A Bounty Hunter
Disney created one of its most immersive environments in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. With Disney’s MagicBand+, you can become a part of the action even more. MagicBand+ will allow anyone wearing it to become a Bounty Hunter.
Over in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, MagicBand+ invites you to join the “Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters” experience, where you’ll use your band to find numerous virtual bounties hidden throughout Black Spire Outpost. MagicBand+ will be your guide, vibrating and lighting up to show if you’re on the right path. You can then use the augmented reality thermal viewer in the Play Disney Parks app – which reveals what’s behind locked doors in Black Spire Outpost – to uncover your virtual bounty**. Once your mission is complete, the local guild master will reward you with galactic credits.
Disney has not given Guests an official release date for the new MagicBand+, but has said that it will come out sometime this summer. Disney’s 50th will run through March 2023, but Disney has not said if the Fab 50 statues or the nighttime shows will remain longer than that. They have also not said if MagicBand+ will be able to do anything else once the states and nighttime shows are gone.
Will you be purchasing Disney’s new MagicBand+ when it comes out?
