Certain actors can make or break an entertainment project, and The Walt Disney Company is no stranger to facing issues with its stars – even before the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes began. Fans have all but vowed to boycott the future of the Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise based on Disney’s handling of Johnny Depp‘s abuse accusations and defamation trial. It seems the company has learned to take a more cautious stance regarding Loki season two.
Disney Plus’ Loki premiered its first season in the summer of 2021 and follows Tom Hiddleston’s Loki through the Marvel Universe after the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019). This Loki is a variant from an alternate timeline and is captured by the Time Variance Authority (TVA), a bureaucratic organization that monitors and maintains the integrity of the timeline. To avoid being erased from existence, Loki is enlisted to help fix the timeline.
Its six episodes end with the confrontation and ‘death’ of the antagonist “He Who Remains,” played by Jonathan Majors. This results in a disastrous altering of the sacred timeline creating a cosmic circus of sorts.
In the meantime, between the season one finale and the trailer for Loki season two. Actor Jonathan Majors was entangled in a legal conflict after being accused of domestic violence and abuse. While Majors denies the accusations, his future with Marvel was suddenly unclear. Having shot both Ant-Man 3 and Loki season two, fans waited to see if Disney would attempt to cut him out.
In the trailer for Loki season two, Tom Hiddleston’s Loki variant is struggling with something called “time slipping,” pulling him randomly and abruptly from one timeline to another. The timeline may fall into “utter destruction” at any moment. It’s time for Loki to take his role as a god seriously and try to figure out who lives and who dies.
Suddenly Jonathan Majors’ character appears, saying, “Make the hard choice.”
Time is ticking – will you tune in to Disney Plus when Loki season two drops on October 6?
The series also stars Owen Wilson, Tara Strong, Sophia Di Martino, Gugu Mbatha Raw, and more.
Fans think it’s already shaping up to be better than Secret Invasion.
