Did Disney Just Tease An Official TRON Opening Date?!

Leaked Video Inside TRON

It seems like it’s been forever and a day, but in just a few months, Walt Disney World Resort should be opening its newest roller coaster — TRON Lightcycle/Run at Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park. TRON was first announced at Disney D23 Expo in Anaheim, California all the way back in 2017. Then, in 2018, the Walt Disney World Railroad closed as construction began in earnest. Unfortunately, there were a series of setbacks — including the COVID-19 pandemic –, and the project fell incredibly far behind schedule.

As of right now, Disney has not announced an official opening date for TRON Lightcycle/Run, but at the 2022 D23 Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products, Josh D’Amaro, said that it would be opening this spring. Well, spring is almost here, and it looks like Disney may have just teased an actual opening date!

On January 9, Disney shared the following video on Twitter.

Now, to a lot of people, these could look just like random sets of numbers and letters. However, internet sleuths began breaking things down right away, including DiscMan, who got figured out more than half the answers.

This is what I have so far:

3- Tron Legacy: 12/17/2010
4- Jeff Bridges’ Birthday: 12/04/1949
5- Magic Kingdom: 10/01/1971
6- Disneyland: 07/17/1955
9- Shanghai Disneyland: 06/16/2016
10- Cast Member previews? 04/4-8/2023

After breaking all of that down, the Twitter user, along with many others, felt that Disney might be opening that ride on March 21, 2023 — 3/23/2023. Others felt that the ride would be opening in April, with the Cast Member (CM bottom line) previews would be happening on April 8, 2023.

Many Disney fans and Guests of Walt Disney World have been impatiently waiting for Disney to open TRON. Originally, the ride was supposed to be ready for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary. The anniversary celebration ends on March 31, so, if March 21 is the opening date, then TRON will be open during the 50th. If April is the correct opening timeline, then it will just miss the mark.

It’s highly unlikely that Disney won’t announce a TRON opening date in the coming days, as internet sleuths are breaking down every single letter and number in that tweet.

Disney Dining will keep a close eye on the situation and let readers know the second an opening date for TRON Lightcycle/Run is announced.
