Attention all Witches and Wizards: this is NOT a drill! Grab your wands and get ready to defend Hogwarts! The Dark Mark has appeared above Hogwarts, which can only mean one this: Dark Arts at Hogwarts is coming back to Universal Orlando! For the first time ever, the spooky event will span two parks!

In years past, Orlando’s Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle event was limited to just a light projection show on Hogwarts Castle. A very, very cool light projection show, but still fairly limited in scope. Now the event is expanding as Universal celebrates Spooky Season! This year, Diagon Alley AND Hogsmeade! Some extra-scary Witches and Wizards are joining the fray this year as well.

Now, it’s time to pick a side because you’ll be forced to declare loyalty to the Dark Lord or mark yourself as an enemy when the Death Eaters descend upon the parks. That’s right. Death Eaters will roam the streets for the first time ever at Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando!

According to Universal, “This interactive live entertainment experience puts guests face-to-face with these fanatic witches and wizards as they roam through London, lurk their way through the cobbled streets of Knockturn Alley, and challenge guests to join the Dark Lord.”

Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle runs from September 1-November 1, 2023. The projection show takes place nightly though times have not yet been announced. The Death Eaters are expected to roam through the lands at various times throughout the evening. This could be a scary experience for younger guests, so our advice would be to visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter earlier in the day unless your little witches and wizards are extra brave (or on Voldemort’s side, hey…we don’t judge).

About Jill Bivins

Jill Bivins has been visiting Disney Parks since she was 2 years old and loves sharing her Disney adventures with the world. She likes to say Disney is in her blood and writing is in her bones — so any time she has the opportunity to combine these loves she is one happy camper! She has a deep abiding love for Epcot and as a die hard Star Wars fan has a serious love for Hollywood Studios as well. When she isn't exploring or writing about Disney Parks, Jill is homeschooling her 8 year old son, playing with her brand new baby son, or pretending to be a farmer on her family homestead (despite being unable to keep even a cactus alive).
