Check Out Disney/Pixar’s ‘ELIO’ Trailer

Disney Animation and Pixar aren’t ready to let go of the sci-fi animation thing just yet. After Lightyear and Strange World were massive flops at the box-office, fans and critics alike said that sci-fi animation just can’t succeed. At least not if Disney is behind it. The studio is out to prove them wrong.

Meet Elio- the underdog with a big heart and even bigger imagination! When he finds himself beamed to the Communeverse by accident, things get a little out-of-hand. As Earth is out on trial, he must form bonds with eccentric life forms and navigate a series of challenges to become who he was meant to be!

This high flying sci-fi adventure looks hilarious and may just be the film that turns the tide away from the “Disney can’t do sci-fi” mentality! For what it’s worth, my 8-year-old son (the one who thinks Disney has too many princesses) just watched the Elio trailer and hasn’t been this excited for a movie since The Super Mario Bros. Movie was released.

Today Disney and Pixar dropped a brand new teaser trailer for the film. The trailer began, as most sci-fi trailers do, with an epic score and voiceover saying, “For centuries we have called out to the Universe looking for answers. In 2024 the Universe cals back.” We see a young boy, Elio, calling his mother who is too busy to talk. The signal is interrupted, however, by the Communeverse  who is looking for Earth’s leader. In a case of mistaken identity, Elio is abducted and  must become the ambassador for humanity. What follows was a series of hilarious miscommunications, farces, and trials.  You can check it out here:

The film will be Pixar’s 28th feature film and is set to hit theaters in March, 2024. There won’t be a simultaneous Disney+ release for this film. For now though, we will have to make do with Pixar’s Elemental.

She likes to say Disney is in her blood and writing is in her bones — so any time she has the opportunity to combine these loves she is one happy camper! She has a deep abiding love for Epcot and as a die hard Star Wars fan has a serious love for Hollywood Studios as well. When she isn't exploring or writing about Disney Parks, Jill is homeschooling her 8 year old son, playing with her brand new baby son, or pretending to be a farmer on her family homestead (despite being unable to keep even a cactus alive).
