‘Boy Meets World’ Star Ghosted Co-Stars, MIA For Years

Boy Meets World was one of the true gems of the sitcom era and a show with great values to grow up on. Most of the cast seemed to come out pretty unscathed from childhood stardom, but the bonds they made on the set apparently did not stand the test of time. Recently, notable members of the ensemble cast revealed that Ben Savage, AKA Cory Matthews, has been MIA for years.

Boy Meets World ran for seven seasons in the 1990s as its main cast of characters grew from pre-teens to adults on screen. In addition to Ben Savage, it starred Danielle Fishel as Topanga Lawrence, Rider Strong as Shawn Hunter, Will Friedle as Cory’s older brother Eric Matthews, and William Daniels as the incomparable Mr. George Feeny.

The TV show was so widely acclaimed that Disney Channel rebooted it in 2014! Girl Meets World starred Rowan Blanchard as Riley Matthews, Cory and Topanga’s daughter, and focussed on similar coming-of-age themes as Boy Meets World. The spinoff ran for three seasons, included Savage and Fishel as series regulars, and had frequent appearances from other original cast members.

In 2022, Danielle Fishel, Rider Strong, and Will Friedle started a podcast called Pod Meets World, where the actors watch Boy Meets World episodes (for the first time because none of them had actually seen it!) and add their commentary. The trio told Variety that most of the core cast is still very close, minus one notable exception.

Star Ben Savage used to be very close with the cast, even staying at the hospital with Fishel when her son was born early. But then, she reveals, “He ghosted us.” They haven’t spoken to him in three years despite efforts to get in touch! Apparently, Savage has completely cut off contact with them for no apparent rhyme or reason.

Danielle Fishel remained hopeful, saying,

If there’s anything this podcast has taught me, it’s that everyone is on their own journey and having their own experiences that can be perceived many different ways, depending on your POV. Speaking for myself, Ben and I may be estranged right now and we may have our complaints about each other, but I will always love Ben and want what’s best for him. I don’t think this is the end of our story — but time will tell.
