It was reportedly a whirlwind string of events set into motion by one of his closest co-workers that ultimately resulted in the removal of Bob Chapek as CEO of The Walt Disney Company on November 20, 2022. The news of his removal sent shock waves throughout the Disneyverse and along Wall Street. As quickly as Chapek had been installed in February 2020, he was removed from his post–and with no advance notice.
But for each shockwave caused by the news of Chapek’s removal, there was at least one more shockwave caused by the news that immediately followed it–that Disney’s former CEO and Chapek’s predecessor, Bob Iger, had been reinstated as the chief executive officer of the company. It was news that was very widely well-received; this was evident at Disney World and Disneyland on the evening the news was shared as Guests at both parks began cheering and celebrating both Chapek’s removal and Iger’s return.
In February, Iger will revisit one of the many tasks that were his in his previous years as Disney’s CEO–that of hosting the Company’s quarterly earnings calls.
The Walt Disney Company announced this week that it will hold its earnings call for the fiscal first quarter, which includes the months of October, November, and December 2022, on February 8, 2023. The call will take place at approximately 4:30 p.m. Eastern time, following the closing bell on Wall Street.
