For frequent visitors of Walt Disney World, Magic Kingdom is the Disney park with all of the classic attractions. But hardcore fans know that Disneyland Resort is home to the original classics.

Disneyland Park is home to the first versions of the Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, “it’s a small world,” and more. These are some of the attractions that Walt Disney himself worked on before his passing.

International Disney theme parks such as Tokyo Disney Resort, Disneyland Paris, Hong Kong Disneyland, and Shanghai Disneyland Park each have their own versions of one or more of these classics.

Classic Attractions Include More Than the Slow-Moving Dark Rides

But the classic attractions don’t stop at the slow-moving dark rides; the category also includes thrill rides like Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and Space Mountain.

Of course, Splash Mountain has been closed for months now in both Magic Kingdom and Disneyland Park. Now, it seems that Space Mountain may be up next.

In a few days, Space Mountain is closing temporarily for refurbishments. We recently reported on this, relaying that the classic roller coaster would close on September 18.

There was no re-opening date at the time, making Space Mountain’s closure indefinite. All we could do was hope for the best.

But now, we know the official reopening date:

Disneyland Park’s Space Mountain is closing on September 18 and is scheduled to reopen on October 26.
