Disney has closed numerous rides for refurbishment this summer as part of their ongoing dedication to providing fans with the newest and most entertaining Park experience possible. Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort are known internationally for their exceptional attractions, immersive theming, world-class Resorts, and delicious food offerings.
To keep all of these Resort additions updated and working smoothly for the millions of Guests that flow through these Resorts every year, Disney often has to perform renovations and refurbishments. This summer, a larger-than-usual number of attractions closed for this kind of work to be done.
The ‘Summer of Refurbishment’ Nears Its End
This past summer, Disneyland Resort was particularly affected by scheduled closures. One of the popular rides that was closed this summer for refurbishment was Radiator Springs Racers, a thrilling attraction located in Cars Land at Disney California Adventure Park.
If you’re a fan of Disney World and the beloved movie Cars, then you’ll definitely want to check out Radiator Springs Racers. This ride takes Guests on an unforgettable journey through stunning landscapes and some of the most iconic landmarks from the Cars universe. You’ll race alongside your favorite characters as you speed through the stunning landscape of Radiator Springs.

Earlier this summer, Disney announced that this ride would be closing so Disney Imagineers could asses some issues with the ride and perform necessary refurbishments. While this news was unfortunate for some Guests, the news that it was reopening on August 27 kept fans feeling positive.
Now, that is no longer the case.
Severe Weather Pushes Back Reopening
This past week, brutal rain storms have pummeled Disneyland Resort due to Hurricane Hillary sweeping California. Thankfully, the damage to the Parks was minimal. Still, this harsh weather did cause setbacks for the Radiator Springs renovation team.
Earlier today, Theme Park journalist Scott Gustin reported that Radiator Springs Racers will remain closed for another day.
