Baby Yoda Short Coming to Disney Plus

Can’t get enough Baby Yoda? Me either! It has been more than 2 years since we’ve had new Mandalorian episodes to watch (and another 4 months until the next season drops). We are in need of a Grogu fix! Luckily Disney understands our plight and it seems as though they’ll be delivering a cuteness overload very soon!

Disney+ Italy accidently leaked the information that a short film called Grogu and the Dust Bunnies would soon hit the streaming service. The announcement was quickly deleted though screenshots, of course, are forever.

The title seems to fall under the “Star Wars Zen” banner, leading us to believe it will be similar in tone to Zenimation which debuted in 2020. This means it may be less a film with a storyline and plot and more of a soundscape/ screensaver type deal. Unfortunately Disney has been very tight-lipped on the project and no other details are known at this time.

The short is expected to be released on November 12, 2022, so at least we won’t have long to speculate about the details of the latest Grogu installment. The timing makes sense because it will mark the 2 year anniversary of The Mandalorian’s original release. Perhaps this is meant as an appetizer to us who are clamoring to know what happens next after Season 2’s dramatic cliffhanger! When last we saw our favorite baby alien, he was in mortal peril and seemingly rescued but eagle eyed viewers pointed out the rescue may in actuality be a death sentence! Say it ain’t so!

Time will tell what happens next for Mando and Grogu but hopefully Grogu and the Dust Bunnies will sate our appetites for now. We secretly hope it’s more than a soundscape but will be happy just to see our favorite baby alien. Be sure to check out the new short on Disney+ November 12!

Jill Bivins has been visiting Disney Parks since she was 2 years old and loves sharing her Disney adventures with the world. She likes to say Disney is in her blood and writing is in her bones — so any time she has the opportunity to combine these loves she is one happy camper! When she isn't exploring or writing about Disney Parks, Jill is homeschooling her 7 year old son or pretending to be a farmer on her family homestead (despite being unable to keep even a cactus alive).
