Over the past few years, Disney has faced a rebranding of sorts when it comes to many of their rides, attractions, and entertainment offerings. While Disney theme parks have always been considered family-friendly, many of their attractions have not aged incredibly well over the years.
In recent times, attractions like the Country Bear Jamboree and Splash Mountain have received major ride reimaginings to appease modern audiences. Slowly, Disney has begun removing all “problematic” attractions. Now, another such attraction has bitten the dust.

Frontierland Attraction Announces Closure
Located within Disney’s Magic Kingdom, the Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade attraction captures the essence of the wild frontier with its themed decor and interactive shooting galleries. Guests can step back in time and channel their inner cowboy or cowgirl as they take aim at stationary targets using replica rifles that emit an invisible beam to register hits.
The Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade offers a fun and competitive experience for families and friends to enjoy together. As guests come through this detailed recreation of an Old West town, they’ll encounter various shooting galleries featuring different themes and challenges. Whether they are a seasoned marksman or a first-time shooter, there’s something for everyone to appreciate at this classic Disney attraction.
The Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade is a classic piece of Disney history, dating back to the opening day of the Magic Kingdom. It continues to capture the imagination of guests with its nostalgic charm and timeless appeal.
Unfortunately for Disney, children’s shooting games are not as politically correct as they once were. With gun violence on the rise in the United States, including in schools, this shooting arcade has not aged very well. Now, Disney had made the decision to seal its fate forever.
DVC Club To Replace Historic Attraction
Disney Vacation Club has recently announced an exciting development for Frontierland at Magic Kingdom Park. In an intriguing move, they have disclosed plans to introduce a new member lounge in place of the current Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade.
This transformation signifies a new era for the area as Disney retires yet another opening-day attraction. The forthcoming construction slated to commence this year has generated a buzz among park enthusiasts, eagerly awaiting further specifics from Disney regarding this innovative venture. As of now, it seems the attraction will close permanently this summer.

While some DVC Club members may be excited by this news, general audiences will likely mourn the loss of an attraction, especially an opening day attraction hand-selected by Walt Disney himself. It is hard to tell what the future will hold for other opening-day attractions that may face the same fate at Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade.
Go ahead Disney keep this removal of long time ICONIC attractions and you will surely lose THE MAGIC itself!!!!
You are steadily destroying the Dream of WALT DISNEY’S CREATIONS and completely disrespecting his LEGACY and his VISIONS OF CREATIONS known in making DISNEY PARKS MAGICAL!!!!!
Shame on you!
When attendance and renewal of Annual passholders start a significant drop due to your decisions people will blame you for this stupid decision
