Disneyland Resort, the enchanting destination that continues to captivate visitors of all ages, is constantly evolving to provide guests with new and magical experiences. Now, major changes are coming to Disney’s controversial Genie+ and Lightning Lane services.
Disney Genie+ is for guests heading to the parks who want to beat the crowds and wait times. Disneyland Guests can reserve access to some of their favorite attractions, shows, and entertainment in advance, allowing you to make the most of your time in the park. Say goodbye to long lines and “hello” to more memories as you explore all that Disneyland Resort has to offer.
Disneyland Resort is home to two theme parks, Disneyland Park and Disney California Aventure Park. Each park features different lands, attractions, shows, and dining for guests to experience. Disneyland Park is known for its iconic attractions like “it’s a small world,” Jungle Cruise, Space Mountain, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, and many more thrilling rides. Next door at Disney California Adventure Park, guests can visit Pixar Pier, Grizzly Peak, Avengers Campus, and much more. This land includes thrilling attractions.
Disney Genie+ is available on the Disney App for guests to purchase. Guests can purchase Disney Genie+ for the day or certain attractions will sell a lighting lane. Disney Genie+ service currently starts at $25.00, which is not included with the park ticket. Prices and availability vary by date. Lighting Lane is the line guests will head to when it is their turn for the attraction. Disney Genie+ will give guests a time for the attraction they select.

First up on the roster is Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, an attraction that has already delighted visitors at other Disney parks across the globe. Disneyland Park is set to be added to the Genie+ lineup very soon. Here, guests step into the whimsical world of Mickey and Minnie Mouse as they embark on a wild journey that includes Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and the gang as they go on an adventure filled with surprises and laughter. With the addition of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway to Genie+, guests will have the opportunity to secure their spot on this magical ride and make the most of their visit to the park.
For those who dream of a life under the sea, Disneyland Resort has even more enchantment in store. The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure at Disney California Adventure Park will soon join the Genie+ lineup next month. This immersive dark ride, inspired by the classic Disney film, The Little Mermaid, takes guests on a journey beneath the waves to explore Ariel’s world. Guests will encounter beloved characters, mesmerizing music, and vibrant underwater scenes as you relive the heartwarming tale of Ariel’s quest for love and adventure. With Genie+ in tow, you can secure your voyage under the sea and ensure that guests can now beat the long lines.
Will you be taking advantage of the lighting lane for these attractions?
Adding two rides to Genie + is not a major change. A major change would be making it free. With the amount of money that is charged for Disney entrance, it is shameful that a then charge extra for the privilege of a Fast Pass, something that was free for many years, before someone decided that Disneyland could become and experiment in class division.
Free makes NO sense…why have it if everyone can use it. The lines would be back to the airport. Just amazed at some people’s brain power.
It was free before with no problems. They control how many are allowed per hour. As it stands now, even with paying; they still go quickly and by 2 or 3:00, most of the lightning lane passes are not available for several hours. Its just disney being greedy.
Major change? A major change is getting rid of Genie+! Disney tried to fix what was never broken and was free for everyone. Nothing more than continued money grabbing! My family has not and will not pay for Genie+ or LL.
