The Disneyland Story presenting Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln is an iconic and captivating attraction at Disneyland that pays tribute to the legacy of the esteemed President Abraham Lincoln. This remarkable experience combines history, technology, and storytelling to bring to life pivotal moments from Lincoln’s presidency.

As visitors enter the theater on Main Street, U.S.A., they are invited to reminisce on the incredible history of President Lincoln. The presentation showcases an audio-animatronic figure of President Lincoln, created with meticulous detail and lifelike movements by Walt Disney Imagineers.

No matter how you feel about this attraction, Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln is undeniably a huge part of Disneyland Resort history. It is for this reason that fans grew concerned when it was revealed that there was a $5 million permit filed for the attraction. Many fans feared that this permit could signify the end of Lincoln’s Disney Park run.

Is Disney Ditching Lincoln?

As an attraction, the Disneyland Story presenting Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln underscores Walt Disney’s admiration for the 16th President of the United States. Disney’s fascination with Lincoln, known as the Great Emancipator, dates back to his childhood when he was inspired by the former president’s resilience and wisdom.

To this day, the attraction stands as a testament to Disney’s commitment to storytelling and his belief in using innovative technology to educate and entertain audiences. The blend of historical accuracy, artistic creativity, and technological prowess makes Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln a must-see attraction for history enthusiasts, Disney fans, and anyone seeking to be moved by a poignant retelling of a great American leader’s legacy.

Unfortunately, guests are no longer able to experience this beloved attraction after it closed for renovations this April at Disneyland Park. While many fans assumed that the closure was just for regular renovations, this feeling shifted when a $5 million dollar permit was filed by Disney earlier this week.

$5 Million Permit Raises Concerns

The permit filed last week certainly raised some eyebrows within the Disney Parks community. While the permit officially mentioned new turntables, show elements, lighting, and plumbing, fans also drew concern that it could hint at a complete removal of the attraction altogether.

While Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln is not one of Disney’s most showstopping attractions, it is an incredible piece of Disney history that deserves preservation. Thankfully, Disney Parks source Scott Gustin has revealed that Disneyland officials have confirmed that President Lincoln is staying at Disneyland Park for the time being.

As of now, it looks like this beloved attraction will only be receiving improvements and adjustments. According to the above source, more details will come shortly from Disney. It is amazing to see Disney investing time and money into a show as treasures at The Disneyland Story presenting Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln.
