It is always hard saying goodbye to fixtures within the Disney Parks community, especially when those fixtures have been around for decades. Part of the way that the Walt Disney Company stays relevant and competitive in today’s theme park industry is by continuing to innovate and create new offerings at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort to appease the modern-customer’s tastes.

With these new additions, older relics of the past oftentimes have to close down. This month, one such location closed its doors at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. Fans were devastated to say goodbye to such an iconic place, but already, whispers of a replacement are surfacing.

Downtown Disney Location Announces Closure

California Sole Anaheim, a popular footwear store in the vibrant Downtown Disney District, has made the decision to close its doors permanently. This closure marks the end of an era for patrons who frequented this stylish and trendy destination for footwear enthusiasts.

The Downtown Disney District is a shopping location at Disneyland Resort. Similar to Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort, this area is open to the public. Here, guests can shop, dine, and enjoy Disney offerings outside of Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park.

The absence of California Sole Anaheim leaves a void in the shopping landscape of the district, where visitors could browse through a curated selection of footwear options ranging from casual to chic styles. As one chapter closes with the farewell to California Sole Anaheim, new opportunities emerge for the district to reinvent itself and attract visitors with fresh offerings and experiences.

The store, which was originally called Sanuk Sandal Shop, has been in Downtown Disney since 2011. California Sole owners Wayne and Cate Heck posted a statement on the store’s social media account, saying:

“It is with mixed emotions that we bid farewell to California Sole Anaheim at the Downtown Disney District. While we’ve had a great ride and will never forget our loyal customers, it’s time for us to pursue some of our lifelong passions and interests.”

New Stores Bid for Coveted Location

While many fans grieve the loss of California Sole, others look to the future to see what location could possibly take its place. As of now, there has not been any official notice made. However, some rumors point to Loungefly and Nectar Bath Treats as possible replacements.

For now, fans will have to wait and see what possible replacements will fit into this popular retail location. What do you hope takes this spot?
