After 27 Years, Universal Finally Changes This Iconic Seuss Landing Location

Seuss Landing has welcomed families to Universal Islands of Adventure since the park opened in 1999. While the land has remained one of the resort’s most recognizable areas thanks to its colorful buildings, whimsical attractions, and faithful recreation of Dr. Seuss’ stories, Universal still finds ways to keep the experience feeling fresh.

The latest update doesn’t involve a new attraction or a major refurbishment. Instead, it comes in the form of a classic theme park dessert.

Universal Orlando has expanded the menu at Circus McGurkus Cafe Stoo-pendous by introducing funnel cakes, giving guests another reason to stop by one of the land’s most iconic restaurants.

The new menu features three different options. Guests can stick with the Classic Crunch Cake, which comes dusted with powdered sugar, or choose more indulgent versions like the Cookies & Cream Twist, topped with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, and Oreo cookie crumbles. There’s also the Strawberry Wild Cake, featuring vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, strawberry sauce, and fresh strawberries.

It’s a relatively small addition, but one that fits perfectly inside Seuss Landing.

Circus McGurkus Cafe Stoo-pendous has always embraced the over-the-top style found throughout Dr. Seuss’ stories. Inspired by If I Ran the Circus (1956), the restaurant surrounds guests with colorful décor, oversized circus props, and playful details that make dining feel like another attraction.

Because of that atmosphere, adding another fun dessert seems like a natural evolution rather than a dramatic change.

Food has become an increasingly important part of visiting theme parks. Many guests now plan their days around snacks just as much as rides, and social media has made visually appealing desserts especially popular.

Universal has responded over the years by expanding specialty food offerings throughout its parks, whether during seasonal festivals, Halloween Horror Nights, or inside its themed lands.

The funnel cakes continue that trend.

For longtime fans, it’s also another reminder that Seuss Landing continues receiving attention even though it’s one of Universal Orlando’s oldest themed areas.

Rather than replacing what already works, Universal has largely preserved the land’s original charm while making occasional updates to attractions, maintenance, and dining experiences.

That approach has helped Seuss Landing remain popular with new generations of visitors.

Families continue to enjoy attractions like The Cat in the Hat, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, Caro-Seuss-el, and High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride before stopping for a meal or dessert nearby.

While adding funnel cakes won’t change anyone’s vacation plans on its own, it gives guests one more option during a day at Islands of Adventure.

After 27 years, Seuss Landing continues proving that even small additions can make an already beloved area feel just a little more exciting.
