Disney World Pulls 7 Fan-Favorite Offerings for the Holidays, Entire Park Shut Down

Disney World visitors hoping to experience everything the resort has to offer this holiday season may be in for a few surprises.

November and December typically bring large crowds to Walt Disney World as families arrive for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s celebrations. While Disney has plenty of festive entertainment planned, several popular locations won’t welcome guests during at least part of the season.

Some closures will last only a few weeks, while others could stretch well into 2027.

And one of the biggest shutdowns involves an entire water park.

Here are seven Disney World closures that could affect vacation plans between November 1 and December 31, 2026.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Shutting Down Ahead of Thanksgiving

Guests visiting Magic Kingdom in November will miss one of Frontierland’s biggest attractions.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will close November 2 for a refurbishment expected to last through December 17. Disney currently anticipates reopening the attraction on December 18.

The ride opened in June 2024 after Disney transformed the former Splash Mountain into an adventure inspired by The Princess and the Frog (2009).

Guests follow Tiana and her friends through the Louisiana bayou during a musical journey.

The timing means visitors arriving for Thanksgiving won’t get to experience the attraction, although families visiting closer to Christmas should have another opportunity.

Carousel of Progress Missing the Entire Christmas Season

Another Magic Kingdom attraction won’t return before the end of 2026.

Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress closed July 6 as Disney began work on a reimagined version of the Tomorrowland experience.

The classic rotating theater show follows an American family through several generations, exploring how new technology changes their lives.

Disney expects to welcome guests back in late spring 2027.

Until then, families visiting during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve will need to skip this longtime favorite.

Frontierland Railroad Station Faces a Much Longer Closure

The Walt Disney World Railroad’s Frontierland Station is another location guests shouldn’t expect to use this holiday season.

Construction connected to Magic Kingdom’s upcoming expansions has affected the station and surrounding areas.

Unlike a typical refurbishment, this project doesn’t have a confirmed reopening date.

The station has already been unavailable for an extended period, and construction could keep it closed well beyond the holidays.

Guests may still have opportunities to ride the railroad from other locations, depending on Disney’s operating schedule.

EPCOT Visitors Lose Access to Popular Snack Cart

Not every holiday closure involves a major ride.

At EPCOT, The Land Cart near The Land pavilion is scheduled to remain unavailable through November 25.

The location typically offers visitors a convenient place to buy snacks and beverages while exploring the area.

Although its closure won’t have the same impact as a major attraction refurbishment, guests visiting during November may need to adjust their snack plans.

Other EPCOT dining locations will remain available throughout the park.

Mickey Mouse Animated Experience Closing at Hollywood Studios

Disney’s Hollywood Studios will also have one fewer indoor entertainment option during the holidays.

Vacation Fun – An Original Animated Short with Mickey & Minnie will close October 28.

The experience could remain unavailable through late December, with its reopening potentially extending into early January 2027.

Inside Mickey Shorts Theater, guests normally watch Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and their friends enjoy a series of vacation adventures.

The short presentation offers families an opportunity to take a break from walking around Hollywood Studios.

Disney hasn’t confirmed an exact reopening date, leaving its holiday availability uncertain.

Blizzard Beach Water Slide Remains Out of Service

Disney’s Blizzard Beach will continue operating during the holidays, but visitors shouldn’t count on every attraction being available.

Slush Gusher, one of the park’s high-speed water slides, remains closed without a confirmed reopening date.

The slide features several hills that create brief moments of airtime as riders travel toward the bottom.

Unless Disney announces a change, the attraction is expected to remain unavailable throughout the holiday season.

Other Blizzard Beach slides and swimming areas will still give families plenty of opportunities to enjoy the water park.

Typhoon Lagoon Won’t Welcome Holiday Visitors

The largest shutdown affects Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon, which closed September 9, 2026.

The tropical-themed water park is undergoing its seasonal closure and isn’t expected to reopen until spring 2027.

That means guests won’t have access to popular experiences such as Miss Adventure Falls, Crush ‘n’ Gusher, or the park’s massive wave pool.

Families hoping to include a water park day in their November or December vacation should plan around Blizzard Beach instead.

What Guests Can Still Enjoy During the Holidays

Despite these closures, Disney World will have plenty happening throughout the holiday season.

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party returns to Magic Kingdom, while EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays begins November 27.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom will also offer festive entertainment and seasonal decorations.

Guests should review Disney’s official operating calendar before arriving, since closure and reopening schedules can change.

A few unavailable experiences might require adjustments, but there’s still plenty to enjoy during a Disney World Christmas vacation.
