Hollywood Studios Mickey Attraction Reopening This Month After Lengthy Closure

Guests heading to Disney’s Hollywood Studios later this month will have another experience available after weeks of waiting.

The park has undergone plenty of changes in 2026, but this particular closure had a different explanation. Disney temporarily stopped showing one of its Mickey Mouse experiences while using the location for another purpose.

That temporary use is nearing its end, and Disney’s latest schedule gives guests a date for the attraction’s return.

There are still a few weeks to go, but Mickey and Minnie Mouse are officially preparing to return to this corner of Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Disney Needed the Space for Another Purpose

Vacation Fun disappeared from the Disney’s Hollywood Studios lineup in early August. Unlike a lengthy attraction refurbishment, however, the closure allowed Disney to use the Mickey Shorts Theater for a limited-time Annual Passholder offering.

Kermit the Frog Annual Passholder magnet distribution began at the theater on August 11 and is scheduled to continue through September 24.

Eligible Walt Disney World Annual Passholders can visit the location during the distribution period to pick up the limited-time magnet.

This also isn’t the first time Vacation Fun has temporarily stepped aside while Disney used its theater for something else.

Earlier in 2026, Disney stopped showing the animated short during portions of April and May. At the time, the Mickey Shorts Theater hosted a May the 4th merchandise event.

The current situation follows a similar pattern. Instead of signaling the permanent end of Vacation Fun, Disney has temporarily put the attraction aside while the theater serves another purpose.

With the Kermit magnet distribution almost finished, attention can now turn toward what happens next.

September 27 Brings Mickey and Minnie Back

Guests don’t have to guess much longer.

Vacation Fun now lists operating hours on Walt Disney World’s schedule, beginning Sunday, September 27.

The date comes just three days after the Kermit the Frog Annual Passholder magnet distribution is scheduled to conclude on September 24.

For guests visiting before September 27, Vacation Fun is expected to remain unavailable. Those arriving on or after the reopening date should once again have the show available on their Hollywood Studios day, provided Disney doesn’t make any further schedule adjustments.

Vacation Fun may not command the same attention as one of the park’s major rides, but its reopening still adds another indoor experience to the lineup.

That can come in handy during a long park day, particularly for families looking for a break from the Florida weather or guests trying to fill time between bigger attractions.

Of course, Mickey and Minnie fans have another reason to be excited about its return.

This Isn’t Just a Collection of Old Mickey Shorts

Vacation Fun stars Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse and centers around the pair revisiting some of their favorite vacation memories.

Disney created new animation specifically for the experience and combined it with scenes from several existing Mickey Mouse animated shorts.

The lineup includes:

• Couples Sweaters
• Potatoland
• Croissant de Triomphe
• Entombed
• Dumb Luck
• Al Rojo Vivo
• Yodelburg
• Outback at Ya!

That combination gives Vacation Fun its own identity rather than simply presenting guests with an existing Mickey Mouse short.

It also offers a very different experience from many of the larger attractions around Disney’s Hollywood Studios. There’s no thrill element or elaborate ride system involved. Guests can simply head inside, sit down, and spend some time with Mickey and Minnie before continuing through the park.

After being unavailable for weeks, that option is finally preparing to return.

Disney temporarily kicked Mickey and Minnie out of their own theater. Now we know when they’re coming back.

A Temporary Closure Nears Its End

Disney’s Hollywood Studios continues to evolve, and temporary closures can leave guests wondering whether an experience will return.

Vacation Fun now has a return date on the schedule.

The Mickey Shorts Theater will continue serving as the distribution location for the Kermit the Frog Annual Passholder magnet through September 24. Three days later, Vacation Fun is scheduled to resume operations.

It follows a familiar pattern for the theater after Disney also temporarily used the location for its May the 4th merchandise event earlier this year.
