Mickey Mouse Attraction at Hollywood Studios To Close Indefinitely Later This Month
A popular Mickey Mouse attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will close on August 9, and Walt Disney World Resort hasn’t announced a specific reopening date. Here’s what to know before your next visit to the Central Florida Disney parks.
Mickey Mouse Attraction Closing at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

On Tuesday, Walt Disney World Resort updated the webpage for the Vacation Fun – An Original Animated Short with Mickey & Minnie in the Mickey Shorts Theater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, revealing that it will close indefinitely on August 9, 2026. Disney did not provide an exact reopening date, but said that the Echo Lake area venue “is planned to reopen later this year.”
The Mickey Shorts Theater, which shows a short animated film starring Mickey Mouse and his friends, will become a pick-up point for a Kermit the Frog-themed Annual Passholder magnet beginning August 11, 2026. Distribution of the free gift will run through September 24, or while supplies last. Presumably, Walt Disney World Resort is closing the Mickey Shorts Theater two days early to prepare the space for the Muppets-themed Annual Passholder magnet distribution.

Even though the magnet distribution ends on September 24, Walt Disney World Resort has not said whether the Mickey Shorts Theater will reopen immediately. Disney also didn’t clarify whether the venue will be showing the same Vacation Fun – An Original Animated Short with Mickey & Minnie film when it reopens. The venue has been showing the same short since 2020.
The Mickey Shorts Theater most recently closed in April and reopened in May after being used as a distribution point for Star Wars merchandise during the May the Fourth celebrations at the Walt Disney World Resort. It also underwent a month-long refurbishment in 2024 to repair the theater doors.
