Two New James Bond Actors Join Franchise Ahead of Amazon MGM’s 007 Reboot

The wait for the next James Bond actor in film continues, but fans may not realize that 007 has already been recast twice.

Following Daniel Craig’s departure after No Time to Die (2021), all attention has turned toward Amazon MGM Studios’ upcoming reboot and the search for the seventh actor to officially play James Bond on the big screen.

Who Will the Next James Bond Actor Be?

However, while the studio looks for the next face of the franchise, other corners of the Bond universe have already introduced their own versions of the legendary spy.

Amazon MGM is reportedly searching for an actor in their late 20s or early 30s to take over the role, with casting director Nina Gold said to be leading the process.

Until that announcement arrives, fans have already met two new Bonds.

Patrick Gibson (Dexter: Original Sin) stars as a younger 007 in 007 First Light (2026), IO Interactive’s new action-adventure game exploring Bond’s early years before becoming the famous MI6 agent.

An even younger version of the character will appear later this year in Young Bond: SilverFin (2026), which adapts Charlie Higson’s novel into a full-cast audio drama starring Isaac Rouse (The Crown) as teenage James Bond.

Both projects explore different stages of Bond’s life, but neither replaces the upcoming cinematic reboot.

That movie is still moving forward under director Denis Villeneuve, with Steven Knight attached as writer and David Heyman and Amy Pascal producing.

For now, the race to find the next movie Bond continues. But after decades of one actor carrying the famous number, 007 is already entering a new era in multiple ways.
