Fan-Favorite ‘Spider-Man’ Actor Teases Return in New Marvel Project

Ever since Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) brought Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield back alongside Tom Holland, the door has been well and truly kicked open for the return of previous Spidey actors.

Holland still leads the current Spidey era. His resume includes Captain America: Civil War (2016), Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019), Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).

By the time Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026) arrives in July, he’ll have seven appearances (four of which are solo outings) under his belt—surpassing Maguire’s original trilogy (2002’s Spider-Man–2007’s Spider-Man 3) and Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man duology (2012–2014). Could Maguire return for the long-rumored Spider-Man 4, picking up threads from Sam Raimi’s trilogy? Could Garfield finally get The Amazing Spider-Man 3, a project fans have campaigned for since his surprise return in No Way Home? Or will both actors instead reappear in ensemble projects like Brand New Day or even Avengers: Doomsday (2026)?

Of course, Spider-Man extends way beyond live-action. Jake Johnson is already confirmed to return as Peter Parker of Earth-616B in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse (2027), continuing the animated saga that began with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023).

In those films, the idea of “returning Spider-Men” is baked into the premise.

And then there’s the gaming side, which has just teased another Spidey sequel.

A now-deleted social media post from Ben Jordan—the latest face model for Peter Parker in Insomniac’s video game series (which includes Marvel’s Spider-Man, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and the spinoff Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales)—has sparked new speculation about Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 (TBA), which has previously been teased by the developer but is yet to be fully confirmed.

Jordan posted an image of himself in motion-capture gear with the caption “IYKYK” (meaning “if you know, you know”) complete with a spider emoji, before quickly removing it. But fans and media outlets were faster. Screenshots circulated almost instantly, fueling belief that the next chapter is already in production.

Whether Jordan was teasing Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 or something else entirely remains unclear, but given the popularity and success of Insomniac’s series so far, it’s hardly a stretch to imagine another entry being in active development.
