Disneyland Paris Rocked by Explosion Reports, Resort Entrance Locked Down
A major security response disrupted operations at Disney on Wednesday evening.
Disney theme parks routinely use extensive screening measures around their entrances, transportation hubs, hotels, and entertainment districts. Temporary closures can be introduced when authorities investigate unattended items or other potential security concerns.
Those precautions became far more visible at one Disney resort on August 26, as guests encountered blocked access, closed businesses, police officers, and military personnel around part of the property.
The incident unfolded at Disneyland Paris, where the resort’s southern entrance was temporarily closed following the reported discovery of several suspicious packages.
A loud explosion was later heard in the area, allegedly the result of bomb disposal specialists carrying out a controlled detonation of one of the suspicious packages.
Security Response Shuts Down Part of Disneyland Paris
According to @DLPWorks, Disneyland Paris blocked its southern access to guests as authorities responded to the security alert.
Military personnel deployed under France’s Vigipirate security plan were present alongside police officers, Disney cast members, and private security teams. Bomb disposal specialists were also expected at the resort.
The closures primarily affected Disney Village and surrounding access points rather than resulting in an immediate shutdown of the entire Disneyland Paris resort.

Vapiano and Five Guys were temporarily closed as a precaution. The entrance and Indigo parking garage were also blocked while authorities investigated the reported suspicious packages.
Disney Village sits between the resort’s theme parks, hotels, and transportation connections, making the restrictions particularly noticeable for guests attempting to move around the property.
A loud boom was subsequently heard at Disneyland Paris while the investigation was underway.
Reports from the scene alleged that the explosion was a controlled detonation carried out by bomb disposal specialists investigating one of the suspicious packages. Authorities had not publicly confirmed the precise cause of the blast at the time of writing.

Guests quickly began posting updates from inside the resort as the security operation continued.
“I’m safe. Can confirm I heard a loud boom at Disneyland Paris,” one guest said. “Security is taking precautions and there are a lot of scared guests, including children. Heavy security presence here.”
The disruption ultimately appeared to be relatively short-lived.
The areas around Disneyland Paris and Disney Adventure World have since reopened, allowing guests to access the area again. Police remained on site and appeared to continue investigating the incident after access resumed.
No injuries had been reported in connection with the incident at the time of writing.
Disneyland Paris Has Faced Previous Scares
Disneyland Paris has dealt with several significant security alerts over the years, including previous incidents involving suspicious packages around the resort.
In January 2016, a 28-year-old man was arrested after security staff at what was then Disney’s Hotel New York found two handguns and ammunition in his luggage.
Investigators later said they had found no evidence connecting the man to a potential terrorist attack.
Later that year, another security operation unfolded at the Marne-la-Vallée–Chessy railway station, which directly serves Disneyland Paris.
The station was evacuated after three suspicious packages were reported, forcing approximately 1,500 travelers out of the area while bomb disposal specialists investigated.
The objects, including an abandoned backpack, were ultimately destroyed without incident. The station subsequently reopened.
In August 2018, another unusual discovery resulted in evacuations after an envelope containing white powder was discovered inside a Disneyland Paris restaurant.
Guests and employees were removed from the area while authorities established a security perimeter amid concerns that the substance could be anthrax.
Specialist firefighters tested the powder at the scene and determined that the substance was actually cocaine.
A different kind of scare struck Disney Village in March 2019 when a mechanical fault produced noises that were mistaken by some guests for gunfire or explosions.
Panic spread through the resort, with crowds fleeing and both Disney parks evacuated as a precaution. French authorities later confirmed that there had been no security threat, although several people suffered minor injuries during the rush.
