Something has quietly changed inside EPCOT—and if you’re someone who likes to grab a quick snack inside The Land Pavilion, you’ll notice it almost immediately.

Sunshine Seasons, one of EPCOT’s most dependable quick-service spots, is now testing a completely different approach to how guests pick up sweets. What used to be a simple grab-and-go setup has been replaced with something far more controlled—and it all comes down to hygiene.
Grab-and-Go Is No Longer What It Used To Be
For years, the “Sweets” section at Sunshine Seasons worked exactly how you’d expect. Guests could walk up, browse shelves filled with pre-packaged desserts, and grab whatever looked best before heading to checkout.
That entire system is now gone.

The shelving area has been closed off, and instead, guests are directed to a nearby counter where Cast Members handle all dessert orders.
Rather than picking up your own item, you now order directly, and a Cast Member retrieves it for you. It’s a noticeable shift, especially in a location known for its efficiency.
Why Disney Is Testing This Change
This isn’t just a random update—it’s a test focused on improving hygiene and food safety.
By eliminating self-service access, Disney reduces the number of people coming into contact with food items. In a high-traffic location like Sunshine Seasons, that’s a big deal.
It also reflects a broader shift in how theme parks are thinking about cleanliness and guest interaction, especially in busy dining environments.
What the New Process Looks Like
The new setup is pretty straightforward once you see it in action.
Guests approach a counter located to the left of the former shelving area. Behind the glass, you’ll find display cases showing available desserts. Instead of grabbing anything yourself, you simply tell the Cast Member what you want.

One of the biggest standouts right now is the Mickey Cinnamon Roll, which is being served warm for $7.99.
Other pastries are available as well, though many don’t currently have visible pricing—another sign that this is still very much in a testing phase.
The same counter is also handling milkshakes and specialty drinks, turning it into a one-stop spot for anyone looking for something sweet.
Could This Expand Across Disney World?
That’s the bigger question.
Grab-and-go locations are everywhere across Walt Disney World, especially at resorts. If this test proves successful, there’s a real chance Disney could expand this model beyond EPCOT.

On one hand, it adds a layer of cleanliness and quality control. On the other, it changes the speed and convenience that made grab-and-go so popular in the first place.
For now, this is just a test—but it’s one that could reshape how quick-service dining works across Disney World.
