Universal Orlando Resort has announced that the Hogwarts Express will be temporarily closed early next year for maintenance and updates. According to the resort’s website:
“Hogwarts Express will be temporarily closed starting February 9th, 2026 through February 23rd, 2026. The Attraction plans to reopen on February 24th, 2026.”
Two-Week Closure Scheduled
The planned shutdown will last for two weeks, giving fans of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter time to adjust their park plans. The Hogwarts Express connects Hogsmeade in Islands of Adventure with King’s Cross Station in Universal Studios Florida, providing guests with one of the most immersive experiences in the resort. The train ride is widely celebrated for its cutting-edge visuals, animatronics, and seamless storytelling that transports visitors between the two parks.
This February closure follows a brief shutdown earlier this year, when the attraction was temporarily closed from September 15 through 19, 2025. At the time, the short-term pause had minimal impact on park-goers, allowing the Hogwarts Express to resume operations quickly.
What Fans Can Expect
Universal has not released specifics regarding the scope of the February refurbishment, but past maintenance typically includes routine upkeep and safety updates to ensure the attraction continues to operate reliably. Guests visiting during the closure will still have access to alternative experiences and attractions in both Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida, though the iconic train ride will be unavailable.
The Hogwarts Express remains a cornerstone of Universal Orlando’s immersive storytelling, and fans can expect the refurbishment to maintain the ride’s high standards while ensuring a safe and magical experience.
Visitors planning trips in mid-February should check the official Universal Orlando Resort website for the latest information on reopening times and updates. The temporary closure provides the resort with the opportunity to perform necessary upkeep before the busy spring season, ensuring the attraction continues to deliver the immersive experience guests have come to expect.
