Snake Slithers Into Toy Story Land, Forces Ride to Close at Disney World

You never know what kind of adventure you’ll find at Walt Disney World—but even seasoned fans didn’t see this one coming.

Toy Story Land is usually buzzing with the sound of spinning saucers, squealing children, and aliens shouting “Ooooooh!” But on a recent day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, something a little less playful made an appearance—and it had nothing to do with Buzz or Woody.

Guests were lined up for Alien Swirling Saucers, an attraction known for its gentle thrills and quirky charm, when something on the ride caught everyone’s attention. Turns out, a snake had slithered its way onto the ride area, bringing the whole operation to a screeching halt.

Now before you panic—yes, it was a real snake, but no, it wasn’t dangerous. Cast Members quickly identified it as a black racer, a non-venomous species commonly found in Florida. While the snake itself was harmless, its unexpected arrival was enough to temporarily close the ride so it could be safely removed.

Disney Cast Members responded with typical professionalism, keeping guests at ease while wrangling the reptile and relocating it far away from the Toy Story fun. Guests nearby reported that the ride was down for a short time while the situation was handled, but Alien Swirling Saucers reopened shortly afterward.

While seeing a snake at Disney might sound like the stuff of urban legends, it’s not all that rare. With the parks being so lush and full of landscaping, small creatures—including snakes, squirrels, and even wild turkeys—occasionally wander in. The good news? Disney’s Cast Members are well-trained for this sort of thing.

So yes, Toy Story Land had a bit of a “wild” moment—but it ended with a safe relocation, a reopened ride, and a story guests won’t soon forget. And let’s be honest: it’s not every day your spinning saucer adventure includes a surprise guest star with scales.
