Guests Abruptly Blocked From Entering Disneyland Theme Park

Disneyland Resort has shifted construction walls at the entrances to Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park as it puts the finishing touches on the all-new entrance system. Phased construction began last year after the first “tapstiles” arrived at Disneyland Park, allowing guests to use MagicBand+ and digital theme park tickets.

Disneyland Park welcomed its first guests through the “tapstiles” in December. After that, crews installed construction walls in phases at some of the entrances to Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. Instead of funneling thousands of guests through just one or two turnstiles, Disneyland Resort completed the work one section at a time to lessen the impact on theme park entry.

In our most recent update last month, Disney Dining reported that the Disneyland Park entrance appeared half-done, while Disney California Adventure Park was lagging behind a bit. The new entrances featured functional “tapstiles” and informative screen signs on the roof. At the same time, construction walls appeared around the Minnie Mouse topiary flowerbed below the Main Street Train Station at Disneyland Park.

Disneyland Resort got a lot done in less than 30 days. According to WDWNT, all construction walls have disappeared from the flowerbed, and crews are almost done with the “tapstile” construction at Disneyland Park. Disney cast members are testing the new technology at certain entrances.

Disney California Adventure Park is still a bit behind its neighbor. On Monday, WDWNT reported that crews had installed the final section of construction walls on the leftmost entrance to Disney California Adventure Park. Guests are blocked from using this entrance as the final set of “tapstiles” is installed.

Although Disneyland Resort hasn’t confirmed when the turnstile construction will wrap up, it seems like the goal is to have fully functional entrances by the time the Southern California Disney park‘s 70th-anniversary celebrations begin on May 16, 2025. Disneyland Resort’s actual birthday is on July 17.
