This Is No Joke: EPCOT Becomes Ghost Town in Latest Update

Okay, I know April 1 is usually reserved for goofy pranks and fake news, but what happened at EPCOT that day was no joke—it was real, and it was glorious.

If you’ve ever dreamed about what it would be like to stroll through EPCOT without the crowds, hopping on rides like Cosmic Rewind and Soarin’ with barely any wait, then April 1 was your dream day come true. Somehow, EPCOT turned into a ghost town on Monday, and no one really knows why.

We’re talking Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind with just a 25-minute wait. That ride almost never dips below an hour—and that’s on a slow day. Most of the time, you’re either paying for Lightning Lane or racing the rope drop crowd just to maybe get in early. But on April 1st? It felt like the galaxy belonged to us.

Then there was Soarin’—just 20 minutes. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Frozen Ever After were under 40 minutes, which is wild considering they both can hit triple digits on weekends. It was honestly hard to believe. No virtual queues. No refreshing the app nonstop. Just walk up, hop on, and enjoy.

Even the walk around World Showcase was peaceful. No big crowds gathered at the food booths for Flower & Garden Festival. No weaving through strollers. Just relaxed, open walkways and happy guests who couldn’t believe their luck.

I don’t know what caused the drop in crowds. Maybe people assumed the parks would be too busy thanks to Spring Break, or maybe they were just avoiding EPCOT for some reason. But whatever it was, it created one of the best EPCOT days we’ve seen in a long time.

Moral of the story? Next time April 1st rolls around, don’t write it off as a silly day full of jokes. It just might be the most magical day of the year—if you’re in the right place at the right time.
