Doorway Collapsed at Disney World, Park Blocks Guests From Area
Guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios were horrified in September 2022 when a section of the Keystone Clothiers storefront collapsed, causing Disney cast members to immediately block off the area. Now, more than two years later, Walt Disney World Resort is finally making progress on repairing the damage.
A Sudden Collapse Shocks Disney’s Hollywood Studios Guests
The collapse affected a doorway and sign on the Keystone Clothiers building along Hollywood Boulevard. Disney cast members quickly acted, cordoning off the area and later installing construction walls to keep guests at a safe distance. For over a year, no significant work was done beyond the installation of green plywood as a temporary fix, a decision that frustrated many Disney Parks fans. Some guests mocked the patchwork solution, comparing it to a “Six Flags” level repair.
Disney Finally Begins Repairs
Last month, guests noticed new construction walls surrounding Keystone Clothiers, suggesting that Walt Disney World Resort was finally addressing the damage. On Tuesday, WDWNT reported that a brown scrim now covers the former Keystone Clothiers sign, confirming that work is underway. Additionally, the green plywood covering the doorway has been removed, and the windows beside the entryway are also concealed with scrim material.
While Walt Disney World Resort has not officially commented on the project, the visible updates suggest that a complete restoration is finally in progress.
Keystone Clothiers Remains Open to Disney’s Hollywood Studios Guests
Despite the exterior construction, Keystone Clothiers remains open to Disney’s Hollywood Studios guests. The Hollywood Boulevard shop continues to offer Disney, Star Wars, and Marvel Studios-themed apparel. Guests can still shop inside, using alternate entrances to bypass the blocked-off area.
Walt Disney World Resort still has not officially announced a timeline for the completion of the Keystone Clothiers refurbishment.
Mystery Repairs at Disney World
The Keystone Clothiers repair delay isn’t the only example of long-overdue maintenance at the Disney parks. Over at EPCOT, construction scaffolding recently appeared in the Canada World Showcase Pavilion, where a mystery refurbishment has been taking place for a few years. The building in question hasn’t operated as a merchandise location since the early 2000s, and Walt Disney World Resort has yet to reveal its future purpose.
