Walt Disney World Resort has revealed the news that the iconic EPCOT attraction, Test Track, will soon be closed for reimagining.
EPCOT’s Transformation
EPCOT, short for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow, is one of Walt Disney World’s four theme parks, including Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. EPCOT, in particular, has undergone a massive, multi-year transformation.
The Disney park has welcomed new rides such as Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana. With new entrance landscaping, a “Walt the Dreamer” statue, and so much more… it’s a magical time to visit the popular theme park!
Plus, gone are the days of the park being split into Future World and World Showcase. Now, EPCOT includes four “neighborhoods,” including World Celebration, World Discovery, World Nature, and World Showcase.
BUT – Disney isn’t stopping there. One of EPCOT’s most iconic attractions is up next for transformation.
Test Track’s Reimagining
We first learned Test Track would be undergoing a transformation when it was announced by Disney’s Destination D23 in September 2023. Disney revealed then:
“At EPCOT, Test Track will be reimagined! Imagineers along with teams from Chevrolet are reaching back into history for inspiration—from the original World of Motion—and bringing that spirit of optimism to the next iteration of the Test Track attraction! #DestinationD23″

Test Track presented by Chevrolet will close temporarily beginning June 17. Stay tuned for more details!

Test Track
Currently, the Test Track experience is shared by Disney as a chance to “Take the Ultimate Test Drive:”
Cruise over to the gleaming Chevrolet Design Center to create your own virtual concept car. When you’re done, buckle up in a 6-passenger “SIM Car” and take it for an exhilarating spin on the test track.
Rev through rough terrain and obstacles along the winding circuit. Accelerate through straightaways, maneuver switchbacks through inclement weather, hug curves banked at 50-degree angles and scale hills up to 3 stories high.
Reach speeds of up to 65 miles per hour as you put your car through its paces. After each test, check the scoreboard to see how your vehicle performed!
After the Test: Make and share a commercial for your design, race your car again on a miniature virtual test or pose for a picture with your vehicle against a dramatic backdrop for a souvenir of your supercharged day.
Currently, Test Track is part of Disney World’s Genie+ service, which allows guests to pay a select fee per day to skip the standard standby line and ride sooner via Lightning Lane. Additionally, Test Track offers a Single Rider line for guests looking to ride solo.
We’re unsure at this time if the Test Test will remain a Genie+ Lightning Lane attraction, move to an Individual Lightning Lane experience (pay à la carte per ride), and whether or not the Single Rider line will remain an option.
