7 Awesome Tips For A Last Minute Trip To Walt Disney World
Sometimes there are moments in life when Disney is calling, and we simply must go. With no time to plan, no countdown calendar, and no idea what to do when you get there, here are seven awesome tips to make your last minute trip to Walt Disney World absolutely magical.
7. Reservations
Call to make last minute resort and dining reservations at 407-939-5277 between 7:00am and 11:00pm. The cast members at the vacation planning center have already done the research for you. They know what’s available and at the best price. There’s no need to spend hours pouring over resort or dining options; just tell the cast member what you would like and they can work with you, sometimes even offering better deals than what can be found online. If the resort or restaurant you had in mind is not available, they can suggest other options that might appeal to you. Trust them, they know what they’re talking about. You might end up finding a new favorite resort for your next trip!
6. Must Do List
Whether you are traveling by plane, train, or automobile, you’re bound to have some down time on your way to Walt Disney World. During this time, make a short list of your must do attractions (have each family member come up with one or two) and leave the rest of the trip up to the spur of the moment. This way you won’t get overwhelmed trying to do it all and you can let the rest of the trip be as spontaneous as it began. My short list would definitely include The Festival of the Lion King show at Animal Kingdom and seeing the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom or from Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
5. Know Where You’re Going
When you get to the parks, use your resources. Pick up a park map and times guide as you enter, and ask a cast member for their suggestions of how to plan your day in that particular park. Cast members know the parks better than anyone, and often can advise you of the best times to go to certain attractions or the best spots to view parades or fireworks. They can also inform you of any special events going on in the parks that day.
4. Book FastPass+
If you have an idea of a few things that you definitely want to do, see if FastPass+ reservations are available for those attractions, allowing you more free time to explore and discover the rest of what the parks have to offer. It is always better to do this before you arrive in the park if possible, the earlier in the morning the better, as FastPass+ reservations do run out. Keep in mind that FastPass+ reservations are one hour time slots and it is important to note your reservation time as you must arrive during that timeframe in order to experience the attraction.
3. Stay Plugged In
Download the My Disney Experience app if you will be using a smartphone during your vacation. The app has everything you need to know from park hours to wait times to nearby attractions, where to find a restroom in real time, and even Mobile Food ordering for multiple quick service locations. It is also a convenient way to keep track of FastPass+ reservations in addition to any other reservations you’ve made for your trip. The My Disney Experience app will also send a notification if an attraction that you have made a FastPass+ reservation for goes down, letting you know what you can do instead of that attraction, or you can wait to see if the attraction reopens and use your FastPass+ reservation at that attraction at any point during the rest of that day.

2. Live in the moment
Enjoy the lack of itinerary by allowing yourself the freedom to stop for a photo op with the Dapper Dans as they serenade you on Main Street or take the time to stroll through Walt Disney Presents at Disney’s Hollywood Studios to learn about the history of Walt Disney World and the man who made it all happen. The possibilities are endless when you’re not tied to a strict schedule or the mentality that you have to see and do everything in one trip.
1. Be open to new experiences.
Disney is always adding magic to the parks, with new sights, sounds, and tastes just waiting for you to discover. Whether it’s checking out an attraction you have never experienced, participating in a limited time event, or ordering a new dish at your favorite restaurant, an open mind and sense of adventure will make your last minute trip to Walt Disney World a vacation to remember!
