10 Things To Know About Swan & Dolphin Hotels at Walt Disney World

The Swan and Dolphin are two hotels located on Disney property and operated by Starwood. While there are plenty of non-Disney hotels on Disney property, these particular hotels stand out from the others for a number of reasons. In fact, there are some cases when we might even recommend staying at one of these hotels over a Disney hotel, and that rarely happens. Here are the top 10 things we think you should know about these hotels.

1. Amazing Location

Let’s start by talking about the amazing location these sister hotels share. Sandwiched between Epcot and Hollywood Studios, we’d say the Swan and Dolphin actually have a better location than about half of the Disney-owned hotels. Not only is park access quick and easy, you can also see the Epcot fireworks from either location. Fireworks pajama party, anyone?

2. Disney Perks

Speaking of getting to the parks quickly, another awesome thing about these hotels is the fact that they offer guests many Disney perks, including transportation to and from the parks. Guests here can also make use of Extra Magic Hours, free package delivery, and a 60-day FastPass booking window. Perks that are not included with a stay at one of these hotels are Magical Express transportation and an included MagicBand.

3. Tons of Food

Together, these sister hotels offer guests an incredible 17 different restaurants to choose from. Each one offers something a bit different, and all are solid choices. One guest favorite is Pikabu, a cafeteria-style eatery that is open 24 hours a day. This means you’ll never have to go hungry, no matter when your tummy get rumbly.

4. Awesome Prices

Compared to Disney hotels, the Swan and Dolphin offer guests some seriously awesome prices. For the price of a Disney Moderate Resort, you can stay in one of these 4-star hotels with amazing amenities on par with those of a Deluxe Disney Resort. It is important to note that there is a mandatory resort fee and guests do have to pay for parking. That said, even with those fees rolled into the price, these hotels are still a good value.

5. Special Events

The Dolphin was originally built as a convention center. For this reason, it has some really incredible meeting rooms. Of course, these rooms should be used for something, and that’s why the hotel introduced a lineup of special events. Among these events is the guest favorite, Food and Wine Classic. This ticketed event is relatively exclusive and coincides with Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival.

6. Keeping It Green

The Swan and Dolphin do a great job of protecting our earth by encouraging guests to reuse their towels and bed linens. How do they do this? By offering a $5 food voucher for every night a guest declines housekeeping services. Go ahead and sign up! You’ll be helping the world stay green and healthy while also helping yourself to all the amazing foods the hotel has to offer.

7. Incredible Beds

This one may seem trivial, but you might disagree after staying a night in one of these hotels. The beds at both locations are phenomenal and you truly will not want to get out of them. This is especially nice after a long day in the parks, though let’s be honest, a super comfy bed is a welcome treat anytime.

8. A Variety of Pools

All Disney-owned hotels offer guests a few different pool options. However, the Swan and Dolphin give those hotels a run for their money by offering five different pools. Each pool serves a different purpose, meaning you might go to one pool for a relaxing swim, another for splashing with the kids, and yet another for swimming laps. This is amazing as it keeps everyone happy, and because each pool is perfectly warmed and meticulously maintained, you can rest assured you really will be happy no matter which pool you visit.

9. Interesting Architecture

These Starwood hotels were designed by famous architect Michael Graves, and they are distinctly different from any other hotel on property. While there isn’t a lot of theming in these hotels, there is a unique style about them that is very interesting, to say the least. While not everybody loves this interesting architecture, even those who aren’t big fans do tend to find themselves drawn to the buildings due to their intriguing nature. For this reason, we recommend spending some time taking in all the little details and really appreciating these buildings.

10. Starwood Preferred Guest Programs

One of the biggest perks to staying in the Swan or Dolphin is the ability to use and earn loyalty points. Disney doesn’t have a loyalty program, so this is a big benefit that you won’t find at many of the other onsite hotels, and we love it. Whether you have the Starwood Preferred Guest credit card or are a member of their rewards program, you’ll love earning points for vacationing with the Mouse, and you’ll love exchanging those points for repeated stays even more.
