1. How can I ride Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance?

By far the most popular attraction in Walt Disney World is Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance which can be found in Batuu, home to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. The attraction is one of the most technologically advanced and immerse experiences where guests are given the opportunity to join the Resistance, are taken prisoner by the First Order, and engage in a daring escape. The novel attraction does not have a normal queue that guests simply join when they get to the entrance. Instead, guests have to join a virtual queue via the My Disney Experience App which assigns them a boarding pass group and advises them when to report to the attraction. Joining a boarding group has become an experience in itself as there are only a limited amount of spots and guests have to sign on at 7am to attempt to get one and often times they immediately fill up. There is a second chance to get a boarding pass again at 1pm subject to availability, and spots again fill up instantly. 2. What should I experience first?

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is home to several very popular attractions that are both thrilling and family friendly. The best way to start a day in the Disney Park is by deciding which attraction a guest is most interested in experiencing and opting to enjoy that first thing in the morning when the wait times are lower than the rest of the day. Some great options to choose from include Slinky Dog Dash, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, and Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run. All of these attractions are very popular with guests and can have lengthy wait times throughout the day, especially with no current FastPass system offered, so the best way to enjoy them is first things in the morning!

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is absolutely a family friendly Disney Park, however it does have a healthy amount of thrilling attractions which come with height requirements for safety reasons. Guests traveling with younger children should be aware that some of those attractions might be off limits due to height requirements. Alien Swirling Saucers has a height requirement of 32 inches or taller, Slinky Dog Dash requires 38 inches or taller, Star Tours – The Adventures Continue, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance require 40 inches or taller, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith requires 48 inches and taller.

While all of those attractions are not options for guests with small children, Disney’s Hollywood Studios is still home to plenty of incredible experiences that younger guests are sure to love. Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy brings the beloved Cars character to life and immerses guests in the world of racing. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway invites guests to step into the cartoon world and set off on an adventure through the park with lots of surprises. Younger guests are also sure to love Toy Story Mania where they can compete in 3D midway games with Woody and the game as well as Muppet Vision 3D where Kermit and friends have some silly and quirky jokes and mishaps to share.

5. What live entertainment is there?

Since Disney’s Hollywood Studios is designed to immerse guests in the spirit of film and television, it is no surprise that the Disney Park is also home to some great live entertainment for guests to enjoy. BaseLine Tap House in the Grand Avenue area of the park serves up beer and wine on tap from California that guests can sip on while enjoying small bites and shareables. The restaurant has both an indoors seating area as well as an outdoor patio with shaded picnic tables, overhead fans, and great views of the surrounding area. The Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge is located next to the main restaurant on Hollywood Boulevard and offers up an outdoor patio where guests can enjoy various alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages as well as several menu choices from the main menu.

The Market in Pixar Place serves up the popular Jack Jack’s Num Num Cookies inspired by the character from The Incredibles and nearby Woody’s Lunch Box serves up Lunch Box Treats that are reminiscent of Pop Tarts.
