‘Zootopia 2’ Goes Wild — Disney Drops Bombshell Details!

For years, Disney fans have speculated, hoped, and waited. Ever since Zootopia made its mark on moviegoers back in 2016, there’s been one question on everyone’s mind: when would Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde return to the big screen? Now, nearly a decade later, we finally have a clearer picture—and it looks like the wait is almost over.

The original Zootopia transported audiences to a world unlike any other, where animals of every shape and size lived in their own unique zones—like the icy streets of Tundratown, the dense, leafy Rainforest District, or the lively Nocturnal District.

Judy Hopps, the determined rabbit who left her family carrot farm behind to become Zootopia’s first bunny police officer, captured hearts worldwide. Teamed up with the sly fox Nick Wilde, the duo unraveled a major conspiracy that changed the city forever.

Since the film’s release, fans have been eager for a sequel — and while Disney hasn’t been silent on the franchise (releasing the Disney+ series Zootopia+ in 2022), official movie updates were few and far between. That all changed recently at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, where Disney offered up brand-new details about the long-awaited follow-up: Zootopia 2.

In the sequel, Nick and Judy are back and on the case—this time investigating a new resident of Zootopia: Gary De’Snake, a venomous criminal voiced by Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan. But Gary isn’t your average bad guy. Nick and Judy are forced to go undercover to discover what he’s really planning.

They won’t be doing it alone. Joining the lineup of new characters is Dr. Fuzzby, voiced by Emmy winner Quinta Brunson. The character is described as Nick and Judy’s therapist—and yes, she’s a quokka. There’s also Nibbles Maplestick, a conspiracy theorist beaver who lives in a brand-new district called Marsh Market, played by comedian Fortune Feimster.

In addition to these exciting new roles, familiar faces will return as well. Ginnifer Goodwin is once again voicing Judy Hopps, Jason Bateman is reprising his role as Nick Wilde, and Shakira is back as Gazelle—with a brand-new song recorded just for the sequel.

Adding to the excitement, legendary Disney filmmaker Ron Clements has come out of retirement to mentor young animators and writers on the film. The movie was written by Jared Bush and co-directed by Bush and Byron Howard. Fans can look forward to seeing Zootopia 2 hit theaters on November 26, 2025.
