The Haunted Mansion is so well-received that it’s been duplicated in nearly each Disney Park:

In Disneyland Park’s New Orleans Square lies the Haunted Mansion, Magic Kingdom’s Liberty Square is home to the second Haunted Mansion, Tokyo Disneyland also has a Haunted Mansion, Disneyland Paris offers Phantom Manor, and Hong Kong Disneyland offers Mystic Manor.

However, the original attraction of Disneyland Resort has been damaged for decades, with no signs of repair in view.

According to many reports,  New Orleans Square’s Haunted Mansion has sustained a “bullet-hole” on one of the glass panels inside the attraction. A Guest entered the attraction with a firearm (a .22 caliber rifle, specifically) in 1974 and shot at a Ghost, leaving behind a real bullet hole in their wake.

Though the hole has been covered with a little spider to disguise the cracks in the glass as spiderwebs. While this is easily one of Walt Disney Imagineering’s most clever coverups, it hasn’t masked the story in its entirety.

While it’s technically caused permanent damage to one of Disneyland Park’s star attractions, it’s also created an infamous talking point that has held Guests’ interest for decades.

At this time, it doesn’t seem that Disney will repair this bullet hole.
