Out of each Disney Park making up Walt Disney World, Magic Kingdom is undoubtedly the most classic. It’s the oldest Park out of the four and holds all of the quintessential Disney attractions.
Rides such as Peter Pan’s Flight, “it’s a small world, “Pirates of the Caribbean, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Space Mountain, and the Haunted Mansion can all be found in Magic Kingdom.
However, being the oldest Disney Park comes with its own challenges. On the one hand, Magic Kingdom is the theme park with the most attractions, but on the other hand, these attractions are prone to technical difficulties due to their age.
On February 23, as the sun was setting, one of Magic Kingdom’s most beloved attractions went down with it: the Haunted Mansion.
Loved by many for its perfect mixture of whimsical spookiness, the Haunted Mansion is easily one of the Magic Kingdom Park’s most popular rides. Nobody can resist the jaunty tune of “Grim Grinning Ghosts” nor the frightening ambiance of the pre-show. The Haunted Mansion puts the dark in ‘dark ride,’ creating an extra scary environment.
However, Guests who love the Haunted Mansion were disappointed to find the attraction listed as ‘Temporarily Closed’ on the Walt Disney World mobile app.
We’re unsure as to why the attraction was closed. Perhaps the 999 Happy Haunts got too mischievous? Maybe Madame Leota’s seance was too potent? In more serious suggestions, it was likely due to the technical difficulties of being an older attraction.
The attraction remained closed for an hour or so but was up and running again by the end of the night. At the time of this article’s publication, the Haunted Mansion is currently available for Guests to enjoy, and the Hitchhiking Ghosts are following Guests home once again.
