
When the first Avatar (2009) film debuted, it was revolutionary thanks to its stunning visuals, the technology required to make it, and the sheer amount of work that went into it.
After nearly fifteen years, the release of an Avatar sequel was widely anticipated, to say the least.

Like the first film, Avatar: The Way of Water (2022) stars Sam Worthington as Jake Sully, Zoe Saldaña as Neytiri, and Stephen Lang as Miles Quaritch. Sigourney Weaver also stars in this sequel, not as Dr. Grace Augustine, but as the adopted daughter of Jake Sully and Neytiri, Kiri.
But Avatar: The Way of Water also stars Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Britain Dalton, Jamie Flatters, Jack Champion, Trinity Bliss, and Bailey Bass.

Although audiences couldn’t wait to watch a new Avatar movie, not everyone was willing to go to the theater to see it thanks, in part, to the whopping runtime (three hours and twelve minutes).

Many would rather wait until the Avatar sequel was released on their streaming service of choice, particularly Disney Plus (stylized Disney+). Although Avatar: The Way of Water was finally released digitally in March, it was noticeably missing from Disney+.

For months, there was no word about when it would finally make its way to Disney’s streaming service…until now.
According to a report by Variety, we can expect the newest Avatar movie to appear on Disney+ on June 7. So get the popcorn, snacks, and cozy blankets ready for your home premiere!
