Watch This Little Girl Win Over Jodi Benson With Her Amazing Voice
Jodi Benson, the original voice actress of Princess Ariel in Disney’s animated The Little Mermaid (1989), is an active TikToker! So far, she’s posted about a dozen videos on her account, and they all stay true to her Disney fanbase.
In January, she posted an adorable duet of her reacting to a little girl singing her heart out to Benson’s classic “Part of Your World.”

The little girl’s name is Olive, and she puts some real passion into her performance! Olive is dressed like Princess Tiana from The Princess and the Frog (2009), and her mother, Shelby, is proudly recording. Despite not quite being able to pronounce all the lyrics, Olive shows that she knows the song and lets her voice shine.
Jodi Benson is noticeably surprised as Olive grounds herself and sings, “I want more.” In the stitch, Benson reacts, “Oh my gosh, what a voice!” In the original video, Shelby interjects excitedly, and Olive hilariously shushes her – she’s clearly not done performing.

The awe-inspiring part, and something that usually marks a more mature singer, is Olive’s use of vibrato! Vibrato is the quick fluctuation between two close musical pitches that create a richer sound, and Olive is nailing it. Benson is impressed, and Olive’s mother is surprised!
Not only is Olive’s voice impressing the original Little Mermaid, but her dancing and acting are winning over the rest of the internet as well. Boy, is she “SICK of swimming!” Olive hits that last note and Benson says, “Unbelievable.”
Shelby was overjoyed that the video made it all the way to Benson saying, “This is amazing! I just showed this to Olive. I wish you could have seen her face – she’s in awe that the real Ariel saw her sing. We [love] you.” Jodi Benson replied, “Olive is just incredible! Wow! What a voice! Just love this so much.”
