The Disney Parks have been no stranger to headline-grabbing protests over the past few months. Disneyland Paris has been struggling with unrest from Disney employees for weeks, and Walt Disney World in Florida experienced hate group protesters with Nazi flags supporting Gov Ron DeSantis just last week. Disneyland Resort in California has now joined its sister parks in making protest news, this time in relation to its LGBTQ+ and Pride offerings.
On June 15, a group from CitizenGo, a self-described ultra-conservative advocacy group, stood outside the entrance to Disneyland Park to protest the Disneyland After Dark: Pride Nite event. This was the first after-hours Pride event ever for Disney Parks, and featured rainbow theming, rare character meet and greets, and other exclusive entertainment.
The protestors held signs saying: “Disney Parks are for kids. Say no to the LGBT push,” “Reject the LGBT indoctrination push,” and “Preserve the magic of childhood.” While the protest itself gained little attention, their social media claims started turning heads. They claim they were attacked by a “radical activist,” who “sucker-punched” one of them in the face.
Here’s their statement.
We were attacked at @Disneyland during our peaceful demonstration as we stood against Disney’s LGBT indoctrination. Here, we see a man briskly walk away as he cowardly sucker-punched our USA campaigner, Owen in the head from the back and then fled the scene.
We live in a crazy world where people think it’s acceptable and even justified to physically assault us for wanting to keep sexually charged Pride-themed entertainment away from children. Despite that, we had some lovely people out there showing us support.
Thank you. We will keep fighting for what’s right and not back down #disney #pride #lgbtqia #activism

Though the video doesn’t show contact being made, the man in the black t-shirt does seem to suspiciously flee. Owen looks to be taken aback, and there is confusion in the crowd of other Disney Park visitors.
Disneyland Resort has made no comment on the incident.
