One of Universal’s highest-end hotels stands apart from the rest of the resort’s luxury lineup in a way that could significantly affect the overall value of a vacation. At the same time, several top-tier hotels include a theme park benefit worth hundreds of dollars per guest; one of Universal’s newest and most impressive resorts does not.
For families planning a multi-day trip, that difference could add hundreds—or even more than $1,000—to the total cost of their vacation. That’s why it’s important to understand what each luxury hotel actually includes before booking.
Universal’s Luxury Hotels Offer More Than Upscale Rooms
Universal Orlando Resort has built a wide range of onsite hotels, from value-priced options to its premium Signature Collection resorts.
At the top of that lineup are Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, Hard Rock Hotel, and Loews Royal Pacific Resort. Universal lists all three as Signature Collection properties, offering upscale accommodations, large pools, dining options, and convenient transportation throughout the resort.
Those amenities certainly add value, but one benefit has helped these hotels stand out for years.
Guests staying at Portofino Bay, Hard Rock Hotel, or Royal Pacific receive complimentary Universal Express Unlimited for participating attractions at Universal Studios Florida and Universal Islands of Adventure. Guests still need a valid park admission, but the included benefit allows them to use Express entrances multiple times at participating attractions instead of waiting in the regular standby lines.
Depending on travel dates, that perk alone can represent a substantial value during a Universal vacation.
Universal’s newest luxury hotel, however, takes a different approach.
Helios Grand Hotel Offers a Different Kind of Advantage
Universal Helios Grand Hotel debuted alongside Epic Universe in May 2025 and immediately became one of the resort’s most unique places to stay.
Unlike any other Universal hotel, Helios sits directly beside Epic Universe and features its own dedicated entrance into the park. Guests still need a valid admission, but they can walk straight into Epic Universe without boarding a shuttle bus or driving across the resort.
The Mediterranean-inspired hotel also features upscale dining, a rooftop lounge overlooking the park, a resort-style pool, club-level accommodations, and themed children’s suites.
Its biggest selling point isn’t difficult to identify.
For guests planning to spend most of their vacation inside Epic Universe, having direct park access creates a level of convenience that no other Universal hotel currently offers.
Universal also classifies Helios as part of its Signature Collection alongside Portofino Bay, Hard Rock Hotel, and Royal Pacific.
That’s where many guests may expect the benefits to match.
One Popular Perk Doesn’t Come With Helios
Although Helios carries the same Signature Collection designation, it does not include complimentary Universal Express Unlimited.
It’s important to note that Universal didn’t remove the perk from Helios after the hotel opened. Instead, the property launched without Express Unlimited, while Universal continued to offer the benefit at Portofino Bay, Hard Rock Hotel, and Royal Pacific.
Universal’s hotel benefits page specifically lists complimentary Universal Express Unlimited only for those three hotels.
The value of that benefit can be significant.
Universal says a 2-Park Universal Express Unlimited pass averages around $200 per person, though pricing can range from $129.99 to $389.99 depending on the date. During busier travel periods, the included perk alone could approach $400 per guest.
For a family of four, the total value can easily exceed $1,000 during a qualifying stay.
There is another important detail to remember. Complimentary Express Unlimited currently applies to participating attractions at Universal Studios Florida and Universal Islands of Adventure—not Epic Universe.
That means Helios guests receive direct access to Epic Universe but do not receive bundled Express Unlimited for Universal’s original two parks.
Guests Have To Decide Which Benefit Matters More
Helios Grand Hotel remains one of the most impressive hotels Universal Orlando Resort has ever built, and its dedicated Epic Universe entrance offers an experience no other resort can match.
At the same time, Universal’s other Signature Collection hotels continue to bundle one of the resort’s most valuable guest benefits.
That leaves travelers with an important decision.
Guests who expect to spend most of their vacation inside Epic Universe may find Helios’ unmatched location worth every dollar. Others planning to divide their time between Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure could see far more value in staying at Portofino Bay, Hard Rock Hotel, or Royal Pacific because of the included Express Unlimited benefit.
Luxury accommodations don’t always offer identical perks, and Helios proves the point. Before reserving one of Universal Orlando’s highest-end hotels, it’s worth comparing not only the room itself but also the benefits included with the stay.
