Universal Orlando Spreads Harry Potter Celebration Across Three Parks as Lost Continent Disappears

Universal Orlando Resort is preparing to celebrate 25 years of Harry Potter across three theme parks—just as demolition consumes another piece of Islands of Adventure’s original Lost Continent beside Hogsmeade.

From August 1 through September 1, 2026, Back to Hogwarts will bring limited merchandise, themed food and returning entertainment to Universal’s increasingly large Wizarding World. The celebration reaches Hogsmeade at Islands of Adventure, Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida and the Ministry of Magic at Epic Universe.

That does not mean every offering will appear in every park. It also does not confirm the persistent theory that Harry Potter will eventually take over the land being cleared next to Hogsmeade.

Still, the timing places two realities side by side: Harry Potter now commands an unprecedented share of Universal Orlando, while one of the resort’s last major redevelopment sites remains without a publicly announced identity.

Universal’s Harry Potter Celebration Comes With a Three-Park Catch

According to Universal Orlando’s Back to Hogwarts announcement, the event will commemorate 25 years since the release of the first Harry Potter film with limited-time food, merchandise and entertainment.

The most prominent collectible is a 25th Anniversary Butterbeer Mug served with Butterbeer. It will be sold only at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure—and only while supplies last. Universal has not announced its price or guaranteed that inventory will survive the entire event.

Hogwarts House Ice Lollies are available at Eternelle’s Elixir of Refreshment in Diagon Alley and have now expanded to the Ministry of Magic at Epic Universe. The four flavors are peach and strawberry for Gryffindor, pineapple and milk chocolate for Hufflepuff, coconut and matcha for Slytherin, and huckleberry and grape for Ravenclaw.

Universal will also offer a park-exclusive Wizarding World x Lug Build-A-Bag collection. Second-generation interactive wands, which use lighting, haptic feedback and spell-specific effects, are sold across all three Wizarding World lands.

For guests, the geography matters. A ticket to one park will not unlock the entire celebration. Experiencing Hogsmeade, Diagon Alley and the Ministry of Magic requires admission to three separate gates. The Hogwarts Express connects the two original parks for guests with eligible Park-to-Park admission, but it does not travel to Epic Universe.

Hogwarts Always Is Returning—but It Is Not a New Attraction

At Islands of Adventure, Hogwarts Castle will host Hogwarts Always, the projection show that follows a school year through recognizable moments including shopping in Diagon Alley, boarding the Hogwarts Express and competing for the House Cup.

The presentation returned to Islands of Adventure on May 30, meaning it is not a new attraction created for the anniversary. Universal is instead positioning the existing nighttime show as one of the celebration’s central experiences.

Guests should consult Universal’s operating calendar or mobile app before building an evening around it. Nighttime entertainment can depend on park hours, weather and the date of the visit.

The larger story is not one new show or souvenir. It is Universal’s ability to send Harry Potter fans through three distinct interpretations of the Wizarding World: Hogsmeade, Diagon Alley and wizarding Paris, which leads into the British Ministry of Magic.

That footprint has grown dramatically since Hogsmeade opened in 2010. Diagon Alley followed in 2014, while Epic Universe introduced the Ministry of Magic in 2025. Demand has sometimes been formidable; Inside the Magic previously documented reported waits exceeding six hours for Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry.

Demolition Beside Hogsmeade Keeps the Expansion Theory Alive

Next door to Hogsmeade, the Lost Continent is disappearing.

Poseidon’s Fury closed permanently in 2023, and demolition has since spread through the former attraction and the demolished Eighth Voyage of Sindbad theater. Recent work has removed additional structures and blocked off more of the original land, with Poseidon’s Fury now being dismantled after years of sitting unused.

Universal has confirmed that the Lost Continent will close in phases to accommodate a new themed area. Mythos Restaurant is currently expected to remain open until 2027, but the company has not named the replacement.

That uncertainty has produced theories involving Harry Potter, The Legend of Zelda and other properties. The Harry Potter idea is easy to understand: the redevelopment site borders Hogsmeade, and Universal previously converted a substantial portion of the original Lost Continent into the first Wizarding World.

A Forbidden Forest ride could also fit the location thematically. At present, however, there is no official announcement, publicly identified permit or attributable company statement confirming such an attraction.

The anniversary celebration proves that Universal remains willing to invest attention, merchandise and operating space in Harry Potter. It does not prove what will replace the Lost Continent.

For now, guests have a confirmed monthlong event spread across three parks—and an increasingly empty stretch beside Hogsmeade where Universal’s next answer will eventually rise.
