According to recent court filings, Universal Orlando Resort is facing a lawsuit after a woman reportedly fell on a ride at Universal’s Islands of Adventure.
Universal Orlando Resort is a popular tourist location, drawing thousands of guests each year to immerse themselves in the magic of its theme parks. Universal Studios Orlando comprises two main parks—Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure. Guests can also visit the bustling entertainment complex, Universal CityWalk or Universal Orlando waterpark Volcano Bay.
Universal Orlando’s attractions vary widely, catering to a diverse audience with different preferences and tolerances for thrills. Each ride comes equipped with specific safety measures, including height restrictions, lap bars, harnesses, and safety announcements. Team members are stationed at every attraction entrance to enforce these guidelines, ensuring that guests who do not meet the safety requirements are not permitted to ride.
Universal Orlando is now facing a lawsuit from a family alleging that a guest fell off an attraction. According to court documents, this guest allegedly fell while trying to get off the Caro-Seuss-el on June 14, 2022.
In this lawsuit it states that there were no signs that this attraction “is a fall risk or hazard.” The guest who fell is also suing for “severe personal injuries.” These injuries are “permanent and continuing in nature and [the woman] will suffer the losses and impairment in the future,” according to the lawsuit.
Universal Orlando prioritizes safety. No theme park is entirely immune to accidents. Occasionally, there have been reports of guests sustaining injuries while on attractions. These incidents, though rare, are thoroughly investigated by Universal Orlando’s safety and security teams.
The causes of injuries can vary, ranging from pre-existing medical conditions aggravated by the physical demands of certain rides to unforeseen mechanical malfunctions. Universal Orlando takes each incident seriously, conducting comprehensive reviews to identify any lapses in safety protocols or equipment failures.
