Universal Orlando Confirms Major Park Hours Cut Ahead of Holidays, Effective November 2

A holiday vacation at Universal Orlando might come with fewer hours inside the theme parks than some guests expect.

While the resort prepares for Christmas celebrations and some of its busiest travel dates, visitors could find themselves heading toward the exits much earlier than anticipated. Several November and December dates feature closing times as early as 6 p.m., leaving less time to enjoy attractions and holiday decorations after dark.

However, the schedule isn’t entirely disappointing. Guests visiting closer to Christmas and New Year’s Eve will find considerably longer operating days.

Here’s how Universal Orlando Resort’s holiday hours compare.

Universal Orlando Begins November With Shorter Days

Halloween Horror Nights officially ends November 1, wrapping up another season of haunted houses, scare zones, and nighttime entertainment.

Beginning November 2, Universal Studios Florida returns to a regular operating schedule, but visitors won’t necessarily have an entire day to explore.

On November 2–4, 6–10, 14, 16, 18, and 29, along with December 3, 10, and 16, the listed hours are:

  • Universal Studios Florida: 10 a.m.–7 p.m.
  • Islands of Adventure: 9 a.m.–7 p.m.
  • Epic Universe: 10 a.m.–8 p.m.

These schedules give Universal Studios Florida visitors nine hours inside the park, while Islands of Adventure offers ten.

For families hoping to experience attractions after sunset, those earlier closing times could make planning more difficult.

Unfortunately, several other dates offer even less time.

Several November Dates Bring Earlier Closures

Universal Orlando Resort’s November schedule includes a handful of days when at least one park closes at 6 p.m.

On November 5, 13, 15, and 20, Islands of Adventure closes at 6 p.m., while Universal Studios Florida remains open until 7 p.m. and Epic Universe until 8 p.m.

November 12 brings another adjustment:

  • Universal Studios Florida: 10 a.m.–6 p.m.
  • Islands of Adventure: 9 a.m.–7 p.m.
  • Epic Universe: 10 a.m.–8 p.m.

November 17 features a 6 p.m. closing at Islands of Adventure and a 7 p.m. closing at Epic Universe.

Meanwhile, November 19 brings a particularly early evening at Epic Universe, which operates from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.

November 11 also features 7 p.m. closings across all three parks.

For guests hoping to enjoy cooler evenings and festive decorations, these schedules may mean prioritizing attractions over a more relaxed approach.

Thanksgiving Visitors Get More Time

Fortunately, the schedule becomes more generous as Thanksgiving approaches.

On November 21, Universal Studios Florida operates until 8 p.m., Islands of Adventure until 7 p.m., and Epic Universe until 9 p.m.

From November 22–26, guests can expect:

  • Universal Studios Florida: 10 a.m.–8 p.m.
  • Islands of Adventure: 9 a.m.–8 p.m.
  • Epic Universe: 9 a.m.–9 p.m.

November 27–28 brings another extension at Islands of Adventure, which remains open until 9 p.m.

These longer days give Thanksgiving visitors more opportunities to enjoy nighttime attractions without facing the earlier closures scheduled throughout much of November.

However, December starts with another round of shorter operating days.

December Brings More Early Evenings

Guests visiting November 30 or December 1–2, 4–9, and 11–15 will find all three parks closing at 7 p.m.

Universal Studios Florida and Epic Universe open at 10 a.m., while Islands of Adventure opens at 9 a.m.

December 17–18 offers a little more flexibility, with Epic Universe remaining open until 9 p.m. while the other two parks close at 7 p.m.

For families visiting primarily to enjoy Christmas decorations after sunset, these shorter evenings could limit what they can experience.

Thankfully, the Christmas holiday brings significantly longer schedules.

Christmas and New Year’s Eve Bring Major Extensions

From December 19–21, all three parks remain open until 9 p.m.

December 22 and Christmas Day feature 9 a.m. openings at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure, while Epic Universe opens at 10 a.m. All three close at 9 p.m.

December 26 brings a 10 p.m. closing at Islands of Adventure.

From December 27–30, both Islands of Adventure and Epic Universe remain open until 10 p.m., while Universal Studios Florida closes at 9 p.m.

New Year’s Eve features the longest listed operating hours:

  • Universal Studios Florida: 9 a.m.–1 a.m.
  • Islands of Adventure: 9 a.m.–1 a.m.
  • Epic Universe: 10 a.m.–midnight

That gives guests up to 16 hours at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure.

Ultimately, Universal Orlando’s holiday schedule shows why checking park hours before visiting matters. Depending on the date, families could experience dramatically different amounts of time inside the parks.

What Universal Orlando Guests Should Know Before Visiting

For Universal Orlando Resort guests planning a holiday vacation, timing could make all the difference.

While some November and December visitors will face shorter park days, those arriving closer to Christmas and New Year’s Eve can enjoy significantly longer hours.

Checking the schedule before visiting could help families and other guests make the most of their trip!
