Universal Horror Falls Short: Why Were Three Haunted Houses Closed Early?

Guests attending Universal Horror Unleashed at Area15 in Las Vegas were left frustrated after the haunted attraction closed ahead of schedule on Thursday night. While the attraction was advertised to close at 10 p.m., reports indicate that three out of the four houses inside the 110,000-square-foot, self-guided experience were shut down before 9:30 p.m., with some closing even earlier. This unexpected shutdown led to a growing line of disappointed visitors looking for answers.

Guests who arrived later in the evening were especially upset, as they had planned to experience all the houses.

The Premature Closures and Their Impact on Guests

Universal Horror Unleashed, which debuted in January 2023, has already attracted attention for its immersive horror experience at Las Vegas’ Area15 complex. Spanning a massive 110,000 square feet, the self-guided walk-through haunt is one of Universal Destinations & Experiences‘ major offerings, following the success of Halloween Horror Nights. However, the experience was disrupted Thursday night when several houses were closed prematurely, leaving guests with fewer scares than expected.
